Shourjya Nag named strategic partner manager at Google Pay
Four-year Google veteran moves to shape the next leg of GPay’s growth in India
Gurugram: Google Pay is doubling down on its merchant and brand playbook, and Shourjya Nag is now holding the pen. After more than four years at Google, Nag has stepped into the role of strategic partner manager at Google Pay, tasked with uncovering high intent transacting audiences on the platform and empowering large Indian merchants through cards, ads and wallet solutions.
Nag’s move comes on the back of a steady climb through Google’s sales ranks. He spent the first half of this year as sales principal in new business sales, helping chief marketing officers streamline spend across search, performance max, YouTube, display and demand gen through full stack visibility and cross channel attribution.
Before that, Nag led regional activations for new business sales, working with a mix of digital first and traditional clients, many with heavy print and television budgets, to help them unlock revenue through Google’s platforms. He cut his teeth at Google as an account strategist for APAC and India, working directly with founders and CXOs to build out their growth strategies on Google Ads.
His path to Google ran through Gartner, where he advised SaaS start ups and enterprise clients on cloud modernisation, cybersecurity and AI adoption, and before that, stints in sports business development in Singapore and private equity focused B2B sales at Michael Page in Mumbai. He began his career with a research internship at Goldman Sachs, covering India’s financial services sector.
“Optimistic about the future of payments in India and the value we can bring to our customers and merchants,” Nag said of his new role.
A career built on backing growth stories for others, Nag now gets to write one of the biggest in Indian fintech from the inside, right as GPay looks to shape its next chapter.
