MUMBAI: The tills kept ringing, even if the bottom line skipped a beat. Reliance Retail kicked off FY27 with stronger sales, surging digital demand and an expanding store network, although softer profitability tempered an otherwise upbeat quarter.

Reliance Retail Ventures Ltd. (RRVL) reported an 8.2 per cent year-on-year increase in revenue from operations for the quarter ended June 30, 2026, with revenue rising to Rs 79,745 crore from Rs 73,720 crore in the corresponding period last year.

While sales remained buoyant, earnings came under pressure. EBITDA slipped 1.1 per cent year-on-year to Rs 6,309 crore, while profit after tax (PAT) declined 14.2 per cent to Rs 2,806 crore, compared with Rs 3,271 crore in the first quarter of FY26.

The retailer continued to strengthen its physical presence, opening 252 new stores during the quarter. This took its network to 20,169 stores spanning a total retail area of 78.4 million square feet, reinforcing its position as India’s largest organised retailer.

Digital commerce remained one of the strongest growth drivers. The company’s grocery digital commerce business saw average daily orders surge 116 per cent year-on-year, while total customer transactions rose 46 per cent to 568 million, reflecting growing engagement across its online and offline channels.

Reliance Retail’s consumer electronics business also maintained momentum, with like-for-like (LFL) store revenue growing 16 per cent over the year-ago period.

In the fashion segment, digital continued to gain ground. Online sales accounted for 27.3 per cent of Apparel & Footwear revenues, an increase of 490 basis points year-on-year. Fashion marketplace Shein crossed 30 million app installs, while Ajio Luxe expanded its footprint to more than 1,000 stores.

Commenting on the performance, Reliance Retail Ventures Ltd. executive director Isha Ambani said the company delivered resilient growth across its core consumption categories while continuing to invest in its digital commerce ecosystem.

The latest quarterly performance highlights Reliance Retail’s strategy of pairing aggressive store expansion with rapidly growing digital channels. While margins faced pressure during the quarter, robust customer engagement and rising omni-channel adoption suggest the retailer continues to strengthen its position across India’s evolving consumption landscape.
