MUMBAI: Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios have strengthened their Asia-Pacific leadership team with the appointment of Serena Menon as head of communications for APAC.

Menon announced the move in a LinkedIn post, describing it as “a new chapter”. Based in Mumbai, she will lead communications across India, Japan and Southeast Asia, overseeing brand, content and corporate storytelling for both Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios.

“An incredibly diverse and complex region, APAC is a growth engine, and I look forward to working with teams across India, Japan, and Southeast Asia to shape what comes next,” Menon wrote.

She joined the company in April 2026 and now leads communications teams across multiple markets, with responsibility for shaping narratives around the streaming platform, its content slate and the wider studio business.

Menon brings more than a decade of experience spanning entertainment, media and journalism. She joins from Netflix, where she spent over seven years in a series of leadership roles.

Most recently, she served as director, public relations, India, leading the company’s communications strategy and reputation management in the country until February 2026. Prior to that, she was director, photo and AV studio, Asia-Pacific, overseeing creative teams across India, Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Taiwan and Southeast Asia. She also played a key role in establishing Netflix’s India Photo and AV Studio as its first team member in the country.

Before entering the streaming industry, Menon held senior editorial positions at ELLE India, where she served as managing editor and associate editor, leading editorial operations and branded content initiatives across film, fashion and lifestyle.

Her journalism career includes stints at Hindustan Times and Hindustan Times Cafe, where she covered entertainment, lifestyle and popular culture, while also managing editorial teams and contributing a weekly column.

Menon’s appointment comes as Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios continue to expand their original content and regional programming across Asia-Pacific, a market that remains central to Amazon’s long-term streaming ambitions. Her experience across communications, content marketing and editorial leadership is expected to support the company’s efforts to strengthen engagement with audiences, creators and media partners across the region.
