Mother’s Recipe brings Aloo Sago Papads to Shravan fasting meals
The Rs 36, 70g pack is available across Maharashtra and North India
MUMBAI: When fasting calls for a little crunch, Mother’s Recipe is putting papad on the menu. The brand has highlighted its Aloo Sago Papad, made with potato, sabudana and sendha namak, as an option for households observing fasting traditions during the holy month of Shravan.
With several families turning to satvik food and familiar vrat ingredients during the period, the papads bring two staples of fasting cuisine — potato and sabudana — into a convenient format.
The papads can be fried and served alongside vrat meals or enjoyed as a snack. They can also be paired with curd, vrat chutneys, sabudana khichdi, farali snacks and other fasting dishes, giving households an easy accompaniment through the Shravan period.
Sanjana Desai, Executive Director, Mother’s Recipe, said the brand’s products are rooted in food traditions and eating habits familiar to Indian households. She added that sabudana and potato are commonly used during fasting and that the Aloo and Sago Papads fit into these meals while being easy to prepare.
Priced at Rs 36 for a 70g pack, the Aloo and Sago Papads are available across key markets including Maharashtra and North India.
Consumers can find the product at retail outlets including D-Mart and Reliance Retail, as well as on quick-commerce and e-commerce platforms Blinkit, Zepto and BigBasket. Seasonal offers are also available during the Shravan period.
The product push comes as food brands increasingly look to festive and religious occasions to position familiar formats around specific consumption habits. In this case, Mother’s Recipe is leaning into a simple proposition: keeping the vrat plate traditional, while giving it a little extra crunch.
