Mohit Kakar promoted to vice president, planning at WPP Media
Media strategy leader takes on expanded role after leading AI-driven solutions across markets
Mumbai: Climbing the media ladder one strategy at a time, Mohit Kakar has been elevated to vice president, planning at WPP Media, less than a year after joining the network.
Kakar announced his new role in a LinkedIn post, confirming that he has taken charge as vice president, planning from August 2026.
He joined WPP Media in October 2025 as vice president, solutions design, where he led the design and execution of integrated media solutions across key markets. His responsibilities included driving revenue growth, simplifying solution frameworks and embedding AI-powered planning and reporting capabilities into client offerings.
Alongside his role at WPP Media, Kakar has been serving as a video council member at IAB SEA+India since April 2026, contributing to discussions around the evolution of digital video advertising across the region.
Before joining WPP Media, Kakar spent more than three years at EssenceMediacom in Singapore. During his tenure, he led the agency’s relationship with Globe Telecom as client lead and previously served as regional director for SK-II across ASEAN, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
Earlier, he held multiple leadership positions at Mindshare, including partner, digital, digital client lead for SonyLIV and senior director. His work focused on digital strategy, cross-media planning and client growth across major accounts.
Kakar also briefly served as head of marketing for Indonesia at honestbee, where he oversaw marketing strategy, business growth and commercial planning for the company’s grocery business.
With experience spanning media strategy, digital transformation, AI-enabled planning and regional client leadership across Asia, Kakar’s promotion reflects WPP Media’s continued focus on strengthening its planning capabilities as advertisers increasingly seek integrated, data-led media solutions.
