Mia by Tanishq turns sibling tears into joy with Rakhi campaign
‘Make Your Sister Cry’ campaign pairs sibling banter with jewellery-led gifting
MUMBAI: This Rakhi, Mia by Tanishq is giving sibling tears a happier ending. The fine jewellery brand has launched its latest Rakshabandhan campaign, ‘Make Your Sister Cry’, turning the familiar chaos of sibling fights, teasing and childhood mischief into an unexpected moment of affection.
The campaign plays on the classic brother-sister dynamic, where saying “I love you” is often replaced by a pillow fight or a perfectly timed prank. In the digital film, a brother finds himself dodging his sister’s barrage of pillows, books and water bottles, only to turn the tables with a Mia by Tanishq gift.
Inside the box is a pendant, transforming the mock battle into a genuine emotional moment. The film uses Kishore Kumar’s iconic ‘Phoolon ka Taaron ka, sabka kehna hai’ to add a nostalgic layer to the contemporary sibling story, before signing off with the line “Gifts so precious, they’ll bring tears of joy.”
The campaign, created around the idea that sibling affection is often expressed rather than spoken, positions jewellery as a way for brothers to turn their usual mischief into a more memorable Rakhi gesture.
Ajay Maurya, Head of Marketing and Category, Mia by Tanishq, said the campaign was designed to capture the “unspoken love” between siblings and give the familiar teasing and squabbles a playful twist.
Alongside the campaign, Mia has also expanded its Rakhi offering beyond the traditional sibling relationship. The brand has introduced six silver rakhis starting at Rs 799, built around the theme ‘Value of Community Bonding’.
The collection reflects a broader interpretation of Rakshabandhan, extending the idea of the bond to friends, neighbours and communities. Each Rakhi comes with a small potli containing Roli, Chawal, Haldi and Kalava, representing purity, prosperity, health, protection and love.
For those looking to add a little more sparkle to the ritual, Mia’s jewellery collection starts at Rs 4,999.
So, while the campaign may ask brothers to “make your sister cry”, the formula is decidedly less fight club and more gift box this time around.
