Louis Vuitton unveils FIFA World Cup 2026 Trophy Trunk ahead of final
Luxury house crafts fifth straight Trophy Trunk as World Cup final approaches
MUMBAI: When football’s greatest prize steps into the spotlight, it arrives dressed for the occasion. Louis Vuitton has unveiled its bespoke FIFA World Cup 2026 Trophy Trunk ahead of Sunday’s final at New York New Jersey Stadium, extending a luxury partnership that has become one of the tournament’s most enduring traditions.
The handcrafted case will once again carry and present the FIFA World Cup Trophy before the final, where Spain has already secured a place while the second finalist will emerge from the remaining semi-final.
The 2026 edition marks the fifth consecutive FIFA World Cup for which Louis Vuitton has created the official Trophy Trunk, following earlier editions for South Africa (2010), Brazil (2014), Russia (2018) and Qatar (2022).
Handcrafted at Louis Vuitton’s historic Asnières-sur-Seine workshops near Paris, the trunk combines the French fashion house’s signature craftsmanship with the practical task of protecting one of sport’s most valuable trophies. It features the brand’s iconic brown-and-gold Monogram canvas, a design that has remained consistent throughout the partnership.
This year’s edition introduces bespoke touches, including a hand-painted golden “V” representing both “Victory” and “Vuitton”, while echoing the colours of the World Cup Trophy itself. The exterior also incorporates traditional leather trim, gold-plated brass corner protectors and locks inspired by Louis Vuitton’s original designs from the 1860s. Inside, the trunk is lined with light beige leather and carries a co-branded Louis Vuitton-FIFA insignia beneath the lid.
Beyond the official case, Louis Vuitton has also unveiled a limited-edition collection inspired by the Trophy Trunk. The range includes three luxury trunks featuring the same golden “V” motif and hand-painted FIFA World Cup Trophy artwork, allowing collectors to own pieces influenced by the official design, although the original remains reserved exclusively for football’s biggest prize.
The FIFA World Cup Trophy, weighing 6.175 kilograms and crafted from 18-carat gold with a malachite base, will once again be carried onto the pitch by a FIFA legend alongside a Louis Vuitton ambassador before the final ceremony.
Louis Vuitton Chairman and CEO Pietro Beccari said the collaboration reflects the brand’s long-standing pursuit of excellence and the unifying spirit of sport, while FIFA Chief Business Officer Romy Gai described the handcrafted trunk as a fitting showcase for football’s most coveted prize.
The World Cup partnership forms part of Louis Vuitton’s broader “Victory Travels in Louis Vuitton” campaign, which connects the brand’s more than 160-year heritage in luxury trunk-making with elite sporting events. Beyond football, the LVMH-owned maison also creates bespoke trophy trunks for Formula 1, the Australian Open, Ballon d’Or, Rugby World Cup, NBA Finals, America’s Cup and the League of Legends World Championship, underscoring luxury’s growing role in the theatre of global sport.
