JSW Sports elevates Himanshu Sharma to head of sales

MUMBAI: JSW Sports has elevated Himanshu Sharma to head of sales, giving him charge of a vertical he began his journey with at the sports management company as an intern nearly a decade ago.

Sharma announced the appointment in a LinkedIn post, reflecting on his journey from a six-month internship to a leadership role. He joined JSW Sports as an intern more than 10 years ago and subsequently moved into a full-time role as manager, client servicing.

Over the years, he has been associated with several milestones across the company’s sporting properties, including Bengaluru FC’s transition from the I-League to the Indian Super League (ISL), the launch of Haryana Steelers and JSW’s involvement with Delhi Capitals. He also cited Neeraj Chopra’s Olympic athletics gold medal as one of the most memorable moments of his career.

Sharma said his focus in the new role would be to build a strong sales organisation and create greater value for the company’s athletes, teams, sporting properties and partners.

His professional experience at JSW Sports also includes roles in talent and consulting and commercial sales. He holds a postgraduate diploma in football management from WIFA-Skillanation and has previously worked as a pitch coordinator for the India-Puerto Rico international football friendly in Mumbai.

The elevation comes as sports organisations increasingly look to strengthen commercial operations and partnerships around teams, athletes and sporting properties. Sharma’s new role will place him at the centre of JSW Sports’ efforts to develop these commercial relationships.
