IT People India launches career portal

MUMBAI: IT People (India) Ltd, a BSE-listed premier staffing solutions company, has announced the launch of an IT-focused vertical career portal exclusively for the IT requirements of the industry.

The portal, IT-People.com, targets the IT Job market and provides a seamless platform for bringing together organisations, placement consultants and IT professionals across the world.

The launch is the first step towards providing a complete range of
solutions for addressing the needs of the human capital element of the
booming Indian industry, informs a company release.
Speaking on the launch, IT People chairman Ketan Sheth said, “Extensive research conducted across various industries has highlighted the dearth of quality IT professionals across all industries. While industry and employers are looking for quality people to serve their burgeoning IT needs, the IT professionals themselves feel the need of a quality online portal meant exclusively for the industry.”

The company is currently in the process of establishing a national presence through regional offices to serve the need of the employers across the nation. IT is launching operations in Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, Gulf and US. An aggressive investment strategy has been adopted in areas of brand building, relevant data base acquisition, infrastructure build-up and a world-class delivery organisation backed by robust processes, the release adds.

In the next expansion plan, the company will augment its presence in the UK and North Africa markets even further. In addition to the vertical career portal, unique offerings are planned for meeting the complete HR staffing needs in the IT environment. The company aims at positioning itself as a ‘one stop shop’ for all staffing requirements in the IT domain for the IT industry and for IT personnel in non-IT industries as well.

Samsung India mobile chief quits after 18 years

Raju Antony Pullan’s exit leaves a gaping hole at the top as Chinese rivals tighten their grip

GURGAON: Raju Antony Pullan has had enough. The senior vice-president and head of Samsung India’s mobile phone business has put in his papers after 18 years at the Korean giant, a tenure long enough to have watched the company stride to the top of India’s smartphone market and then stumble, badly, as Chinese upstarts muscled in.

Pullan, who ran sales, marketing and every last function of the smartphone business, tendered his resignation on Thursday and is currently serving out his notice period. Samsung has not named a successor. It has a second line of leadership waiting in the wings, Aditya Babbar and Hiren Rathod among them, but no decision has been made on who steps up.

The timing is awkward. Samsung has been haemorrhaging market share to Chinese brands and now clings to a top-two position only in the premium segment, where it scraps it out with Apple. Losing the man who stewarded the mobile business through its best and worst years hardly helps steady the ship.

A company that once owned India’s smartphone market is now fighting to stay relevant in it. Pullan’s departure is less a footnote than a flashing red light.
