Infosys Public Services CEO Lax Gopisetty reportedly missing after deadly Nepal floods

The company says it is working with agencies to establish contact with Lax Gopisetty, who was visiting the region in a personal capacity

MUMBAI: Infosys has confirmed that Lax Gopisetty, chief executive of its subsidiary Infosys Public Services, is currently unreachable after travelling to Nepal in a personal capacity, as the country grapples with devastating floods. The company said in a statement that it was prioritising his safety and working with relevant agencies to gather information and re-establish contact.

Infosys added that it remains in touch with Gopisetty’s family and is providing them the necessary support, while expressing sorrow over the floods and the loss of life in Nepal. The statement read, our thoughts are with Lax and all those affected by this tragedy.

Infosys Public Services is the IT major’s subsidiary dedicated to serving public sector organisations across the US and Canada. As chief executive, Gopisetty has been responsible for the company’s overall strategy and execution, advising government bodies on technology, operations and transformation.

Gopisetty took on the role after serving as global vice president at Infosys, where he led the business applications and digital workspace services practice and helped expand it across the Americas, Europe and Asia. Before Infosys, he was managing director at Accenture, leading part of its health and public services business in North America, with earlier stints at BearingPoint, IBM, PwC and HCL spanning consulting and technology transformation. He has also mentored startups and spoken widely on artificial intelligence, digital governance and the future of work.
