Google expands Search Console with Instagram, TikTok, X and YouTube performance insights
New platform properties track Search and Discover performance across four major platforms
MUMBAI: Search just got more social. Google has introduced a new feature in Google Search Console that allows creators and publishers to measure how their content on social media and video platforms performs across Google Search and Discover.
Called platform properties, the new property type gives users a consolidated view of how posts published on Instagram, TikTok, X and YouTube are discovered through Google Search and Google Discover.
The launch builds on an earlier experiment and is aimed at helping creators who increasingly rely on third-party platforms, including those without their own websites, understand how audiences find and engage with their content through Google.
The new feature introduces three reporting tools. The Performance report provides data on clicks, impressions and other metrics, allowing users to filter results by search queries or individual posts and export the data for further analysis.
The Insights report offers a high-level snapshot of recent traffic trends, top-performing posts and the ways users discover content through Google Search.
Search Console also introduces an Achievements section, enabling creators to monitor growth and celebrate milestones, such as reaching new click thresholds from Google Search over the previous 28 days.
To use the feature, users can add a platform property within Search Console by selecting one of the supported platforms, authorising the connection and completing the verification process.
Google said the rollout will happen gradually over the coming weeks, with support initially available for Instagram, TikTok, X and YouTube. The company also encouraged users to share feedback through Search Console and the Google Search Central Community as it expands the feature.
The move reflects the growing importance of creator-led content in search results, giving publishers and creators a clearer picture of how audiences are discovering their content beyond traditional websites.
