MUMBAI: Stitch by stitch, Fabindia is weaving a new travel story, this time with a western wardrobe and an Indian soul. Fabindia is expanding beyond its traditional ethnic roots with the launch of Fabels, a premium western wear sub-brand aimed at the modern global traveller seeking contemporary fashion infused with Indian craftsmanship.

The move marks the lifestyle retailer’s entry into the premium western wear segment, broadening its portfolio while staying anchored to the artisanal heritage that has defined the brand for decades.

Positioned for the “Global Traveller with an Indian Soul”, Fabels combines international silhouettes with handcrafted detailing, natural fabrics and traditional textile techniques to create versatile collections for everyday wear, business casuals and occasion dressing.

The collection spans apparel for both men and women. The women’s range includes dresses, tops, contemporary shirts, camisoles, meditation pants, avenue pants and structured linen trousers. For men, the line-up features straight and slim-fit shirts, Cuban shirts, drawstring trousers, layering jackets and comfort-fit twill shorts.

Beyond apparel, Fabels offers a curated selection of accessories, including artisanal silver earrings, jute totes, leather sling bags, shoes, loafers, braided chappals and handcrafted silk stoles. Several pieces incorporate heritage Indian techniques such as Ajrakh, Indigo, Dabu and Dori hand embroidery, blending traditional artistry with modern styling.

The brand places a strong emphasis on breathable natural fabrics, refined craftsmanship and tactile textures, aiming to deliver premium wardrobe staples that transition seamlessly from casual outings to social occasions.

A Fabindia spokesperson said Fabels is designed for consumers seeking the precision of contemporary fashion while remaining connected to India’s rich craft traditions. The spokesperson added that the collection brings together global aesthetics and handcrafted artistry in garments designed for everyday living.

Fabels has already opened standalone stores in Delhi NCR, while exclusive collections are also available through select Fabindia Experience Centres across India, signalling the brand’s ambitions to carve out a distinctive space in the premium lifestyle market.
