MUMBAI: The Complan Boy has grown up and this time, he is swapping the advertising script for a cricket scorecard.

Complan has launched ‘India ka Complan Boy’, featuring 15-year-old cricketer Vaibhav Sooryavanshi as the face of the campaign. The initiative gives a real-world update to the brand’s long-running ‘Complan Boy’ property, shifting the familiar advertising character towards a young achiever whose cricketing journey has already made headlines.

The campaign connects Sooryavanshi’s rise with ambition, preparation, discipline and family support, while retaining Complan’s “Thoda Plan, Thoda Complan” philosophy. Its digital film follows his journey from training and preparation to the cricketing milestones highlighted by the brand.

Sooryavanshi became the youngest cricketer to debut for India in international cricket, according to the campaign material. He also scored his maiden T20 half-century against Zimbabwe in July, adding another milestone to a career that has moved quickly from promise to the international stage.

The campaign’s central idea is to move the Complan Boy from a familiar advertising identity to a real young achiever. Rather than presenting success as a sudden leap, the film puts the spotlight on the preparation and support behind the moments that eventually make it to the scoreboard.

Tarun Arora, CEO and Whole Time Director, Zydus Wellness, said Complan’s legacy of celebrating children with big ambitions needed to evolve with a new generation. He said Sooryavanshi’s story reflects the values of “ambition, preparation, perseverance, and family support” that have long been associated with the brand.

For Sooryavanshi, the partnership has a more personal connection. The 15-year-old said he grew up in a household where Complan was a familiar presence, with the cricketer noting that he and his two brothers had grown up with the brand.

He also credited his family, coaches and teammates for supporting his progress, while acknowledging that he still has “a long way to go and a lot to learn”.

The digital film uses that journey as its narrative, moving between training, preparation and the records that have marked Sooryavanshi’s rapid rise.

With a 15-year-old international cricketer now carrying the Complan Boy tag, the brand is betting that its old property can score with a new generation, this time without needing to invent the protagonist.
