MUMBAI: From finding their voice to finding their financial footing, women are increasingly taking centre stage in India’s investment story. The Investor Protection Fund (IPF) of Central Depository Services (India) Limited (CDSL) has launched a new investor awareness anthem, ‘Bano Ms. Atmanirbhar Investor’, as part of its ongoing AtmanirbHER initiative aimed at encouraging more women to participate in the securities market.

Sung by singer, actor and content creator Sai Godbole, the anthem is accompanied by a film that traces key milestones in a woman’s life, from landing a first job and embracing new responsibilities to pursuing personal ambitions. The narrative draws a parallel between these life moments and the journey of investing, underscoring the importance of taking that crucial first step.

The campaign arrives at a time when women’s participation in India’s investment landscape continues to rise. According to CDSL IPF, women now account for nearly one in four investors in the country, reflecting a broader shift as more women take control of their financial decisions and long-term wealth creation.

Rather than focusing solely on returns, the campaign highlights confidence, awareness and informed decision-making as the building blocks of financial independence. Through relatable storytelling and Godbole’s familiar voice, the initiative seeks to connect with women across age groups and encourage them to approach investing with greater conviction.

The accompanying film portrays women as wealth creators and future builders, reinforcing the idea that investing, much like any major life decision, begins with overcoming hesitation and embracing opportunity.

Despite growing participation, industry observers note that awareness, product understanding and access to reliable information remain key challenges preventing many women from becoming active investors. Initiatives such as AtmanirbHER aim to bridge that gap by making financial literacy more accessible and relatable.

“The ‘Bano Ms. Atmanirbhar Investor’ anthem is built around a simple but powerful message every meaningful journey begins with a first step,” said CDSL IPF Secretariat head Sudhish Pillai. He added that informed investing can help women build long-term financial security while contributing to a more inclusive investment ecosystem.

As India’s investor base continues to diversify, the campaign reflects a larger trend: financial empowerment is no longer just about earning more, but about making money work smarter. And for many women, that journey may begin with a song carrying a simple message, invest in yourself by investing for your future.
