MUMBAI: Neighbourhood rivalries may run deep, but this Diwali, Cadbury Celebrations wants to make sure sweetness runs deeper. The brand’s latest festive campaign turns the familiar squabbles of residential life into an opportunity to reconnect, using a box of chocolates to bridge the gap between neighbours.

From parking disputes and boundary-wall battles to noisy parties and cricket matches in the compound, living next door can bring its fair share of nok-jhok. The campaign builds on the idea that beneath these everyday disagreements lies a bond that can resurface when someone makes the first move. With Diwali providing the occasion, Cadbury Celebrations positions gifting as a simple way to turn a little bitterness into thoda sa pyaar.

The campaign features an advertisement film and a short film, bringing neighbourhood tensions and festive reconciliation to the screen.

Vinay Subramanyam, vice president – marketing at Mondelez India, said the campaign reflects the distinctive relationship Indians share with their neighbours, where banter and disagreements coexist with bonhomie during Diwali. He also highlighted the launch of Milky Mithai under Cadbury Celebrations, combining chocolate with the taste of traditional Indian mithai.

Sukesh Nayak, chief creative officer at Ogilvy India, said the campaign celebrates the playful quarrels between neighbours and how a small gesture can soften hard feelings. Shekhar Banerjee, president, client solutions, South Asia, at WPP Media, said the media strategy would use creators and shoppable gift guides to connect Cadbury Celebrations packs with different festive occasions and relationships.

The campaign arrives alongside a refreshed festive portfolio that brings Indian sweet flavours into the chocolate aisle. New additions include Cadbury Celebrations Milky Mithai Squares in kesar pista, and Choco Mithai Squares in crispy rabdi, badam barfi and kesar badam flavours.

The wider range includes assorted chocolate packs, Silk Selections, Bournville Selections and Rich Dry Fruit Jars, presented in premium packaging with gold accents. Prices start at under Rs 100, while premium options range from Rs 250 to Rs 575, giving consumers choices across different gifting budgets.

Cadbury Celebrations will promote the campaign through television, digital platforms, social media and in-store touchpoints. Creator-led activity and shoppable gift guides will also help consumers choose packs suited to different relationships and gifting moments.

By bringing neighbourhood dynamics into its Diwali storytelling, the brand is extending the idea of festive gifting beyond family and friends to the people just across the corridor. The message is that sometimes, the quickest way to settle a neighbourly score is not to have the last word, but to offer the first sweet.
