Britannia promotes Shailesh Kumar to vice president procurement

MUMBAI: Every great biscuit begins long before it reaches the oven, it starts with getting the ingredients right. Britannia Industries has strengthened its leadership team by elevating long-time executive Shailesh Kumar to the role of vice president for procurement, reinforcing the strategic importance of sourcing and supply chain management in the FMCG business.

The appointment was approved by Britannia’s board of directors through a circular resolution passed on 30 June 2026, following the recommendation of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee. According to a regulatory filing, the promotion is effective from 1 April 2026.

Kumar has spent more than 14 years at Britannia, holding several positions within the procurement function. Prior to his elevation, he served as General Manager – Procurement, leading key sourcing and procurement operations across the organisation.

With nearly 19 years of experience in the FMCG sector, Kumar brings extensive expertise in procurement and supply chain management. Before joining Britannia, he worked at ITC Limited as Purchase Manager, adding broad industry experience to his leadership credentials.

During his tenure at Britannia, Kumar has contributed to several strategic and operational procurement initiatives, helping strengthen the company’s sourcing capabilities in an increasingly competitive consumer goods market.

Academically, he holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE), Hyderabad.

Britannia disclosed the appointment under Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015, classifying it as a change in senior management personnel. The elevation comes as FMCG companies continue to place greater emphasis on resilient supply chains and efficient procurement amid evolving market dynamics.
