Britannia Cakes launches Durga Puja campaign with festive packs and AR activation
‘Unwrap the Joy of Celebrations’ brings six Bengali traditions to life through special packs, a Kolkata Metro wrap and interactive newspaper ads
MUMBAI: In Bengal, the festive season is a full-blown mishti of sights, sounds and shared memories. Britannia Cakes is tapping into that spirit with its latest campaign, ‘Unwrap the Joy of Celebrations’, bringing familiar Bengali traditions to consumers through special-edition packs, a brand film, augmented reality (AR) experiences and city-wide activations.
From the beat of the dhaak and the rush of pandal hopping to the aroma of bhoger khichuri and evenings spent with loved ones, the campaign draws on the everyday rituals that make the festive season special. Its six special-edition packs feature colourful artwork inspired by six festive traditions, turning the packaging into a visual celebration of West Bengal’s cultural identity.
The designs also serve as the inspiration for a campaign film, which brings these rituals and celebrations to the screen.
Britannia Cakes is extending the campaign beyond shop shelves with a branded Metro wrap across Kolkata’s Green Line, running from Howrah Maidan to Salt Lake Sector V. The activation takes the festive artwork into the city’s daily commute, putting the campaign in front of residents as they travel.
Newspaper readers will also get an interactive festive experience. Across six consecutive days, advertisements will spotlight six different traditions, with QR codes allowing consumers to create and share their own festive avatars. Options include a dhaaki and a dhunuchi dancer, bringing a digital twist to familiar cultural symbols.
The brand is also taking the campaign to Kolkata’s streets, inviting people to share the memories and stories that the special-edition packs bring to mind. From family customs and neighbourhood gatherings to traditions passed down through generations, the activation aims to connect the packaging with personal experiences of the season.
Shekhar Agarwal, general manager at Britannia, said West Bengal has long been important to the brand and that the campaign seeks to celebrate the region’s traditions, families and communities while adding sweetness to the festivities.
The campaign combines packaging-led storytelling with film, outdoor visibility, print and interactive digital engagement. Rather than relying on a single festive advertisement, Britannia Cakes is using multiple touchpoints to bring the campaign into consumers’ homes, commutes and social interactions.
With six traditions reflected across its special-edition packs and six days of interactive newspaper advertising, the brand is turning the festive season into a series of cultural moments. The underlying pitch is simple: celebrations may come with their own rituals, but the sweetest memories are often the ones shared.
