Biscoff brews social buzz with new DM a Lonely Cup campaign
Brand blends AR, smart dispensers and giveaways to celebrate tea and coffee moments.
MUMBAI: Every great cup deserves a worthy companion, and Biscoff is making sure no brew has to go it alone. Biscoff has unveiled its latest integrated campaign, ‘DM a Lonely Cup’, combining social media, augmented reality and on-ground activations to reinforce its positioning as the ideal companion for tea and coffee.
Built around the idea that India’s tea and coffee rituals are among the country’s most photographed everyday moments, the campaign encourages consumers to spot “lonely” cups, share their pictures on social media and pair them with a Biscoff cookie. The initiative taps into the growing culture of sharing café visits, office coffee breaks and home-brewing moments online.
As part of the campaign, consumers can send photographs of their tea or coffee cups for a chance to win one of 1,000 Biscoff Rescue Kits, each containing a customised Biscoff cookie sleeve and a pack of Biscoff cookies.
The campaign also introduces an immersive Snapchat Lens, allowing users to interact with the concept through augmented reality and recreate the “rescue” experience digitally, reflecting the increasing use of AR as a marketing tool to drive consumer engagement.
Taking the campaign beyond social platforms, Biscoff has installed smart vending machines branded as ‘Biscoff Dispensers’ outside high-footfall destinations including Cyber Hub and Palladium Mall. The machines use sensors to detect takeaway tea or coffee cups placed in front of them before dispensing a complimentary Biscoff sampler, turning an ordinary coffee run into an interactive brand experience.
The activation reflects a broader shift in consumer marketing, with brands increasingly blending digital engagement, gamification and experiential retail to build stronger connections with younger audiences. Rather than relying solely on conventional advertising, companies are creating shareable experiences that move seamlessly between online platforms and physical spaces.
By combining user-generated content, AR technology, smart vending and real-world sampling, Biscoff is looking to turn a familiar tea or coffee break into a social conversation, one cup, and one cookie, at a time.
