Two films spotlight how NRIs stay connected with loved ones through banking support

MUMBAI: Distance may stretch the miles, but it clearly hasn’t stretched the heart. Axis Bank has launched a new integrated campaign for its NRI Banking Services, turning the familiar story of life between two countries into a narrative about staying connected to family back home.

Titled ‘Far Away But Never Apart’, the campaign moves beyond the usual remittance-and-transactions playbook to focus on the emotional side of being an NRI — supporting parents, handling family responsibilities and being present for important moments even when thousands of kilometres away.

Conceptualised by TBWA\Lintas, part of Omnicom Advertising India, the campaign features two films built around different family situations, with Axis Bank Relationship Managers playing a key role in helping customers manage needs in India from overseas.

The first film follows a son who, with support from his Relationship Manager, uses Axis Bank’s home financing solutions to help his father rediscover companionship and a sense of belonging. The second centres on a daughter arranging timely medical care for her mother in India, with guidance from her Relationship Manager to access funds digitally from overseas.

Together, the films position banking as the bridge between an NRI’s life abroad and responsibilities that remain firmly rooted in India. The focus is less on the mechanics of moving money and more on what that money enables care, security and participation in family life.

“For NRIs, their careers and aspirations may change where they live, but it rarely changes where their heart is,” said Anoop Manohar, Chief Marketing Officer, Axis Bank. He said the campaign was designed to move beyond product conversations and reflect the emotional realities of NRI life, while highlighting the role of Relationship Managers in helping customers handle important moments with confidence.

For TBWA\Lintas, the creative insight was equally straightforward: leaving home does not necessarily mean leaving behind the people who matter. Kapil Batra, President – Creative, TBWA\Lintas, said the campaign was built around the responsibility many NRIs continue to feel towards their families in India.

The creative team of Nitin Sawant and Aryan Tank developed the stories, while filmmaker Kamlesh Soni directed the films, with the campaign leaning on nuanced performances and everyday family situations rather than a conventional product-led narrative.

The campaign will target NRIs across Axis Bank’s key markets, including the USA, Canada, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Singapore. Its media strategy is digital-first and spans Meta, Display, YouTube, Connected TV (CTV), OTT and Spotify.

With its two stories, Axis Bank is effectively putting the emotional cost of distance alongside the practical business of banking making the message less about being abroad and more about never being too far from home.
