Amrit Anand joins Boat as head of PR and communications
Former Zupee, Paytm and ReNew communications leader begins new chapter.
MUMBAI: After a decade of shaping stories behind some of India’s most closely watched companies, Amrit Anand is now setting sail with a brand that has built its identity on making waves. Anand has joined Boat Lifestyle as head of PR and communications, marking his latest career move after leadership stints across India’s startup, fintech, renewable energy and consumer technology sectors. The announcement was made through a LinkedIn post, where Anand reflected on a 10-year journey that began when he left the structured world of multinational giants Walmart and Bank of America to enter India’s fast-evolving startup ecosystem through ReNew Power.
Since then, he has worked with several high-profile companies including ReNew, Paytm and Zupee, handling communications through some of the most challenging and defining moments in corporate India. His experience spans IPO communications, regulatory and policy issues, crisis management, leadership positioning, reputation building and stakeholder engagement.
Most recently, Anand served as head of corporate communications at Zupee, where he helped build and institutionalise the company’s communications function. His role included developing governance frameworks, crisis response protocols and reputation strategies during periods of heightened regulatory scrutiny and industry transition.
Prior to Zupee, Anand spent more than five years at Paytm, where he rose to the position of deputy general manager corporate communications. During his tenure, he played a key role in managing communications around Paytm’s landmark IPO, while also navigating regulatory developments, restructuring exercises and intense public scrutiny.
His earlier assignments included leading corporate communications initiatives at ReNew Power, supporting brand positioning and IPO-related messaging, as well as communications leadership roles at Bank of America, Walmart, Escorts and Amarchand Mangaldas.
In his LinkedIn post, Anand described communications as more than a function focused on visibility, noting that the discipline is fundamentally about building trust, credibility and resilience when it matters most.
His move comes as boAt continues to strengthen its leadership bench while navigating an increasingly competitive consumer electronics market. The home-grown brand has emerged as one of India’s most recognisable lifestyle technology companies, spanning audio products, wearables and accessories.
For Anand, the transition marks another chapter in a career built on managing narratives when the spotlight shines brightest. This time, the challenge will be helping steer the story of one of India’s most recognisable consumer brands as it charts its next phase of growth.
