ZEE5 unveils Ghamasaan trailer, sets September 11 premiere
Pratik Gandhi and Arshad Warsi lead Tigmanshu Dhulia’s gritty power drama on ZEE5
MUMBAI: When power plays dirty, the grey gets darker. ZEE5, Jio Studios and Golden Ratio Films have unveiled the trailer of Ghamasaan, a gritty drama that pits Pratik Gandhi against Arshad Warsi in a high-stakes battle over power, loyalty and survival. The film will premiere exclusively on ZEE5 on September 11.
Directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia, Ghamasaan is set in the Hindi heartland and moves beyond the familiar cop-versus-criminal template. Gandhi plays Aditya, while Warsi steps into the role of Maharaj, with their confrontation expanding into a larger struggle for control of an ecosystem shaped by politics, loyalty and competing ideas of power.
The trailer offers a glimpse into Dhulia’s morally murky world, where clear-cut heroes and villains are hard to find. Instead, characters appear driven by survival, ambition and alliances that can shift as quickly as the balance of power.
That complexity is central to the film’s appeal, with the makers positioning the face-off between Gandhi and Warsi as more than a conventional pursuit story. Ishita Dutta also stars in a pivotal role.
Ghamasaan has already travelled through MAMI Mumbai Film Festival, Cinevesture International Film Festival and Chicago South Asian Film Festival, giving the film a festival run ahead of its digital premiere.
The film is produced by Jyoti Deshpande for Jio Studios, Piiyush Singh, Abhayanand Singh, Saurabh Gupta and Ashwini Chaudhary for Golden Ratio Films, and Miten Shah for Yaelstar Films.
Kaveri Das, Business Head, Hindi ZEE5 and Chief Channel Officer &TV, said the platform was drawn to the film’s willingness to take creative risks and challenge conventional storytelling. She highlighted the central conflict between Warsi and Gandhi and Dhulia’s approach to a world where power, politics, loyalty and survival rarely fall neatly into black and white.
The film is part of a wider slate bringing together ZEE5, Jio Studios and Golden Ratio Films, alongside Sumo Didi and Ikroop. The three projects span different genres and perspectives, from the power struggle of Ghamasaan to the resilience-driven story of Sumo Didi and the survival-and-justice narrative of Ikroop, starring Mithila Palkar and Gauahar Khan.
With Ghamasaan, the collaborators are betting on a familiar ingredient conflict but serving it with considerably more grey than black and white.
