LONDON: If music is all about hitting the right note, ZEE TV is hoping the UK will strike a chord with the next generation of singing stars.

In a first for the long-running franchise, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa will hold auditions in the United Kingdom, giving aspiring singers the chance to begin their journey to one of India’s biggest and most recognisable music reality platforms without leaving British shores.

The auditions are scheduled to take place in London on 26 July, with registrations opening at 10am. Participants aged between 18 and 30 will be eligible to audition, while those progressing through the selection process must be prepared to travel to India for subsequent stages of the competition.

The move marks a significant expansion of the talent search for the iconic programme, which has spent more than three decades discovering and nurturing singers who have gone on to make their mark in the music industry. By bringing auditions to the UK for the first time, the broadcaster is tapping into one of the world’s largest and most influential South Asian communities, a region with a rich history of producing successful artists, musicians and performers.

The upcoming season is expected to be among the franchise’s most ambitious yet. Producers are promising a large-scale production featuring a live orchestra of more than 100 musicians alongside a 100-member chorus, creating a grand musical backdrop for contestants competing on the national stage.

Commenting on the initiative, Zee Entertainment Enterprises president, international and digital businesses Amit Goenka said the show has spent decades celebrating musical talent from across the world and that extending auditions to the UK reflects the programme’s continuing evolution.

He noted that the UK has made a significant contribution to the global South Asian music landscape and said the company is looking forward to discovering fresh voices, unique stories and exceptional performers capable of becoming part of the next chapter of the franchise.

Meanwhile, Zee Entertainment Enterprises territory head, Europe and head finance (Europe & Americas) Parul Goel described the launch as a major milestone for the broadcaster’s international operations.

According to Goel, the UK is home to exceptional musical talent and a passionate South Asian audience. She said the auditions would create a unique bridge between the UK and India, offering aspiring singers an opportunity to showcase their abilities on one of the world’s most recognised music reality platforms.

The audition drive will be supported through a multi-platform campaign spanning ZEE TV, ZEE5, digital channels, social media and community outreach initiatives. Organisers also plan to capture behind-the-scenes footage, contestant stories and special features documenting the journey from London to India.

For aspiring singers, the opportunity could be more than just a chance to perform. It offers a direct pathway to a show that has become a household name across generations of music lovers. As the franchise casts its net wider than ever before, the message is simple: the next big voice of Indian music might just be waiting in London.
