NEW DELHI: VETO, India’s subscription-free OTT platform, has secured exclusive OTT streaming rights for the Billie Jean King Cup 2026 in India, expanding its live sports portfolio less than a year after its launch.

The acquisition adds another major international tennis property to VETO’s offering, following its recent announcement of exclusive OTT streaming rights for the Davis Cup 2026. The two deals give the young platform rights to two of global tennis’ most prominent team competitions within its first year of operations.

Often described as the Women’s World Cup of Tennis, the Billie Jean King Cup brings together national teams from across the world and is one of the sport’s premier team events.

The latest move underlines VETO’s growing focus on premium live sports as it expands beyond its core entertainment offering. Since launching in September 2025, the platform has grown to more than 60 live TV channels, added web series to its on-demand catalogue and built a presence across 12 languages and more than 10 genres.

Sports is emerging as a strategic pillar alongside VETO’s offerings across news, entertainment, movies, music, devotional and kids programming. Live events can drive appointment viewing and repeat engagement, while also creating shared viewing experiences, particularly on connected TVs.

India hosted the Billie Jean King Cup Asia/Oceania Group I stage at the Delhi Lawn Tennis Association Stadium in New Delhi from April 7 to 11. India finished third in the six-nation group, retaining its Group I status for 2027 after closing its campaign with a 2-1 win over South Korea.

The action now shifts to the global stage. The Billie Jean King Cup Finals will be held in Shenzhen, China, from September 22 to 27, with eight nations competing in the knockout stage.

Two-time defending champions Italy will enter the Finals looking to complete a hat-trick of consecutive titles.

VETO managing director Ritu Dhawan, said the platform was focused on building a differentiated subscription-free content destination for Indian audiences.

“In less than a year, we have expanded to 60+ live channels, entered the web series space, and grown our presence across 12 languages and 10+ genres,” Dhawan said.

She added that securing the Davis Cup and Billie Jean King Cup rights reflected VETO’s long-term commitment to making live sports a key pillar of the platform.

With two marquee global tennis properties now in its portfolio, VETO is making an early serve for a larger role in India’s increasingly competitive live sports streaming market.
