MUMBAI: This Independence Day, TukTuki is putting a new spin on ‘Made in India’ with AI in the director’s chair. Homegrown micro-drama platform TukTuki has launched its latest original, Salaam India, an AI-powered film paying tribute to the country’s armed forces.

The film premiered on Independence Day and marks TukTuki’s third AI-driven movie in just three months, with the platform positioning the rapid production cycle as part of its push to develop a new visual language for premium vertical storytelling.

At the centre of Salaam India is Virat, an elite Indian intelligence operative whose world is turned upside down after terrorist commander Husain murders his family and takes him hostage. Virat is subsequently forced into a covert mission in Russia, where he must steal a protected code.

The mission soon turns into something far bigger. Virat uncovers a plan for a technologically advanced, 26/11-style attack scheduled for 15 August 2026. With just 17 days on the clock, he must navigate a web of internal betrayal while questioning whom he can trust, including members of his own team and the political establishment.

For TukTuki, however, the Independence Day push extends beyond the film itself. The platform has also launched initiatives aimed at its predominantly young audience, with 80 per cent of its micro-drama viewers currently belonging to the youth segment.

One initiative, ‘A Conversation with Brigadier Amul Asthana (Retd.)’, gives young viewers an opportunity to engage with the veteran’s experiences and reflect on themes of service and national spirit.

TukTuki has also introduced ‘Expression of Creators’, inviting aspiring writers, actors and directors to submit scripts and audition videos. The initiative is intended to give emerging Indian talent a digital platform to showcase their work.

The moves come as TukTuki crosses 1 million downloads, adding a digital audience milestone to its growing focus on AI-led storytelling and creator participation.

Anshita Kulshrestha, Founder, TukTuki Entertainment, said Salaam India represents the platform’s attempt to combine national storytelling with technological innovation, describing it as its third AI-driven project in 90 days.

With Salaam India, TukTuki is betting that the next chapter of Indian storytelling can be both Made in India and made with AI, while using the short-form vertical format to put a high-stakes national thriller in the hands and smartphones of a younger audience.
