NEW DELHI: Gaming is getting a little more dramatic. ShareChat and Moj, part of the Mohalla Tech ecosystem, have partnered with Level Infinite, Tencent’s global games brand, to launch THE MISFITS, a creator-led gaming micro-drama featuring popular gaming creator Techno Gamerz.

The series has been created to mark the launch of Gangstar Mirage City and is positioned as India’s first bespoke gaming micro-drama. Rather than simply using the game as a backdrop for a marketing campaign, the series places its story directly inside the game’s universe.

Starring Techno Gamerz, who has a community of more than 50 million subscribers, THE MISFITS follows a university freshman who creates a secret society of outsiders through anonymous digital broadcasts.

The series is set to premiere on August 20 on ShareChat and Moj, bringing together gaming, creator fandom and scripted vertical storytelling in a single format.

The partnership comes as gaming and micro-drama continue to gain traction as digital entertainment formats in India. The ShareChat ecosystem claims more than 60 million monthly active users and around 900 million daily episode plays, giving the platforms a sizeable audience for creator-led serialised content.

Commenting on the partnership, ShareChat and Moj’s chief business officer, Neha Markanda, said, “Micro-dramas are rapidly emerging as one of India’s most exciting new entertainment formats, reshaping how audiences discover and engage with episodic storytelling in the vertical format.”

She added that THE MISFITS combines the reach of Techno Gamerz, the world of Gangstar Mirage City and the ShareChat ecosystem, while highlighting the potential of collaborative micro-dramas as a new way for brands to engage digital-first audiences.

Level Infinite’s India country manager, Sidharth Arora, said the game was built around immersive storytelling and that the partnership was intended to introduce it through an original narrative rather than a conventional trailer.

“THE MISFITS is more than a campaign, it’s an innovative entertainment experience that brings together gaming, creators and storytelling in a way that feels authentic and engaging for today’s audiences,” Arora said.

The collaboration also extends beyond the series. Pre-registrations for Gangstar Mirage City are open on Google Play until August 20, with early access and exclusive in-game rewards available to users.

With THE MISFITS, ShareChat, Moj and Level Infinite are betting on storytelling rather than straightforward promotion to bring a game to audiences, turning a launch campaign into an entertainment property of its own.
