MUMBAI: The popcorn doesn’t need a cinema ticket this weekend. Streaming platforms are serving up a buffet of fresh releases, with crime capers, psychological thrillers, sci-fi mysteries, supernatural dramas and anime ensuring there’s something for every binge-watcher between 3 July and 5 July.

Leading the digital line-up is Rajkumar Hirani’s OTT debut, Pritam and Pedro, now streaming on JioHotstar. Starring Arshad Warsi, Vir Hirani and Vikrant Massey, the crime comedy follows an experienced police officer and a gifted hacker who join forces to investigate the kidnapping of a chief minister’s son, uncovering a sprawling cybercrime network in the process.

Science-fiction fans can return underground with Silo Season 3, now available on Apple TV+. Rebecca Ferguson reprises her role as Juliette Nichols, who returns to the silo with no memory of recent events, while a parallel storyline reveals the origins of the mysterious underground civilisation centuries earlier.

On Lionsgate Play, Richard Gadd and Jamie Bell headline Half Man, a psychological drama centred on a family reunion that quickly spirals into an exploration of buried trauma, fractured relationships and long-hidden secrets.

Netflix brings back one of its most popular detectives with Enola Holmes 3. Millie Bobby Brown returns as Enola, whose wedding day takes an unexpected turn after Sherlock Holmes mysteriously disappears, pulling her into a conspiracy far larger than she anticipated.

Malayalam cinema also enjoys a strong weekend presence. Mollywood Times, streaming on JioHotstar, follows aspiring filmmaker Vineeth Madhavan as his obsession with creating the perfect horror film begins to blur the line between fiction and reality.

On ZEE5, supernatural drama Muthassi unfolds near the Kerala-Karnataka border, where mysterious events force Leela to confront an ancient family curse after her husband’s return.

Meanwhile, Sony LIV premieres Karakkam, a musical horror comedy in which two friends accidentally unleash spirits during a New Year’s Eve prank, triggering a string of supernatural mishaps.

Anime fans have plenty to look forward to as well. Skeleton Knight in Another World Season 2 arrives on Crunchyroll from 4 July, continuing Arc’s fantasy adventure as he battles more formidable enemies.

On 5 July, Netflix adds Sparks of Tomorrow, a fantasy anime set in a steam-powered Kyoto, following two young protagonists whose search for a mysterious electrical catalogue could change their futures. Also debuting on 5 July, Prime Video streams Magilumiere Magical Girls Inc. Season 2, where office life collides with magical battles as Kana Sakuragi faces increasingly dangerous Kaii creatures.

With fresh originals, returning franchises and a healthy mix of international and regional content, the first weekend of July offers streaming audiences a packed watchlist spanning mystery, comedy, fantasy, horror and science fiction ensuring the toughest decision may simply be what to press play on first.
