JioStar to launch Jungle Tales with Mowgli on September 12
Slapstick comedy series marks JioStar’s 16th indigenous Kids & Family title
MUMBAI: Mowgli is back in the jungle, but this time he is bringing a few more laughs along for the ride. JioStar is set to launch Jungle Tales with Mowgli, a slapstick comedy reimagining of the familiar Jungle Book world, on JioHotstar and Disney Channel on September 12 at 2 pm.
The series follows a curious and mischievous 10-year-old Mowgli as he navigates jungle life, with his knack for landing himself in trouble driving a stream of comic adventures. Situational comedy, slapstick chases and playful banter form the backbone of the show.
Joining Mowgli are characters familiar to generations of viewers, including his friends Baloo and Bagheera and his rivals Sherkhan, Kaa and Tabaqui. The format aims to give parents a dose of childhood nostalgia while introducing younger viewers to the jungle gang in a contemporary setting.
Alok Jain, Head – Hindi & English Entertainment Business (Streaming, TV & Studios), JioStar, said the series reimagines the timeless Jungle Book world with the humour and energy of today’s children and families. He said the property is designed to appeal to children and families across India and encourage shared viewing.
JioStar has lined up a multi-screen campaign around the launch, with promotions running across its network and JioHotstar. The campaign has already made a stop at Anime India, where the character was used to reconnect with fans and tap into memories of the original Mowgli.
The promotional trail will now move into malls and other family-focused touchpoints, while the digital campaign will target social communities and bring creators from different age groups into the conversation. The idea is to turn Mowgli’s return into both a new kids’ property and a nostalgia play for parents.
Jungle Tales with Mowgli also adds another title to JioStar’s growing Kids & Family portfolio, which includes local IPs such as Motu Patlu, Chikoo Aur Bunty and Bittu Bahenebaaz.
The series marks the network’s 16th indigenous title in the Kids & Family category, underlining its push to build a wider home-grown entertainment ecosystem for audiences watching across television and streaming.
Nivea and Tedibar have joined the series as Co-powered By sponsors, adding a commercial layer to Mowgli’s latest jungle expedition.
With an old favourite, a new comic spin and a two-screen launch, JioStar is hoping this Mowgli adventure can make nostalgia work for one generation while keeping the next one laughing.
