MUMBAI: Quick commerce is no longer just quick; it is getting seriously busy. India’s six major quick-commerce platforms are now processing around 9.5 million orders a day in August, according to Datum Intelligence and industry sources, putting the category on track to handle between 286 million and 314 million orders in a 30-day period.

Blinkit remains the market leader, processing an estimated 3.4 million to 3.6 million orders daily and accounting for 36.7 per cent of the combined market. Zepto follows with 2.4 million to 2.6 million orders a day, giving it a 26.2 per cent share, while Swiggy Instamart accounts for 14.4 per cent, with daily volumes estimated at 1.3 million to 1.45 million.

Together, the three leaders command roughly 77 per cent of daily order volumes across the six platforms. But the rest of the field is getting increasingly crowded.

Flipkart Minutes has crossed 1 million orders a day, translating into a 10 per cent share. Amazon Now is estimated to process 600,000 to 700,000 orders daily, while BigBasket handles around 500,000 to 600,000.

From 4.8 million to 9.5 million orders

The scale-up becomes clearer against last year’s numbers. In March 2025, Blinkit, Zepto and Swiggy Instamart together were estimated to process 4.15 million to 4.45 million orders a day, while the top five platforms handled around 4.8 million daily orders.

The latest August figures suggest that leading-platform volumes have risen sharply in little over a year, while the competitive pecking order has also started to shift.

Zepto has moved ahead of Swiggy Instamart in daily orders, according to industry data reported by Moneycontrol. Meanwhile, Flipkart Minutes and Amazon Now have moved beyond being peripheral challengers, each building sizeable daily volumes.

The battle is also moving beyond the traditional quick-commerce basket. Platforms including Blinkit, Zepto, Swiggy Instamart, Flipkart Minutes and Amazon Now are expanding into premium and gourmet categories, including imported foods, premium meats and speciality beverages.

That shift is partly about making each basket worth more, rather than simply making consumers order more often.

The difference in average order values highlights the varied economics across platforms. Blinkit reported an AOV of Rs 518 in the June quarter, compared with Rs 691 for Swiggy Instamart. Zepto’s AOV has been estimated at around Rs 300-350, according to industry data cited by Moneycontrol.

With daily orders now approaching the 10-million mark, India’s quick-commerce market has moved well beyond its early grocery-delivery identity. The August numbers show a category where the leaders are defending sizeable shares, challengers are scaling rapidly and the next battleground is increasingly likely to be what consumers buy, not just how fast they receive it.
