KOLKATA: Ten years, 25-plus titles and not a hint of slowing down. hoichoi has entered Season 10 with its most expansive slate yet, spanning web series, television, theatrical films and its first animated original. The announcement was made from Kolkata on 30 September 2026. A decade after setting out to build a streaming home for Bengali stories, the platform now brings together returning franchises, new intellectual property (IP), celebrated creators, emerging voices and a growing universe of entertainment beyond streaming.

The headline numbers are hard to ignore. Over the past decade hoichoi has built a library of 600-plus Bengali films and 200-plus original series, reaching audiences across India, Bangladesh and international markets. What began as a focused Bengali streaming destination has grown into a global entertainment business built around Bengali IP, spanning streaming, content licensing, theatrical, branded entertainment, technology and emerging formats. The business has evolved from a subscription streaming platform into a broader IP-led entertainment company. Through it all, hoichoi has stayed anchored to one belief: that Bengali stories can be deeply rooted in their culture and still travel across geographies, generations and formats.

The Season 10 slate reflects that evolution in its breadth. It runs from much-loved franchises and literary properties to investigative thrillers, supernatural narratives, relationship-driven dramas, distinctive new voices and stories from across India and Bangladesh. The mix is designed to appeal to both loyal audiences and newer generations of viewers. At its heart is a continued commitment to stories that are culturally rooted yet expansive in their appeal, stories that understand the nuances of their audiences while allowing Bengali entertainment to travel.

Content: a decade of stories, and an even wider universe of storytelling

The web series slate is a compelling mix of new originals and returning titles, with familiar worlds, fresh narratives and an eclectic range of genres. The line-up includes Debipokkho, Birangana 2, Kauriburir Mandir, Mangolik, Chaalchitro: The Ekchala Murders, Feludar Goyendagiri: Baksho Rawhoshyo, Tansener Tanpura: Mohonbashi, Konya, Detective Tarinicharan, Shoti, Kumari, Agambagish: Drolmar Khorgo, Kuheli 2, Jujuma, Shrimoti Not Out, Choddobeshi 2, Kanamachhi, Thakumar Jhuli 2, Uttoron: Charulata and Shri Ramkrishna, hoichoi’s first animated series.

The balance between old and new is deliberate. The return of Birangana, Feludar Goyendagiri, Tansener Tanpura, Agambagish: Drolmar Khorgo, Kuheli, Choddobeshi and Thakumar Jhuli underlines the enduring relationship between hoichoi and its audiences. Newer properties such as Debipokkho, Kauriburir Mandir, Chaalchitro: The Ekchala Murders, Konya, Detective Tarinicharan, Shoti, Kumari, Jujuma, Shrimoti Not Out, Kanamachhi and Uttoron: Charulata, among others, reflect the platform’s appetite for fresh storytelling formats, new characters and distinctive narrative voices.

The television slate features Katha-Amrito, starring Madhumita Sarker and Arjun Chakrabarty, and Sholaka Rawhoshyo, starring Trina Saha.

The hoichoi Studio film line-up widens the net further. Maharaja Tomare Selam is directed by Srijit Mukherji and features Jeetu Kamal, Ritwick Bhowmik, Rudranil Ghosh, Sairity Banerjee, Shatakshy Nandy and Arijit Dutta. The Eken: Kerala-e Kurukshetra is directed by Joydeep Mukherjee and features Anirban Chakrabarti, Ritwick Chakraborty, Raima Sen, Somak Ghosh, Suhotra Mukhopadhyay, Ambarish Bhattacharya, Arna Mukhopadhyay, Subrat Dutta and Kamaleswar Mukherjee. Jononi is directed by Parambrata Chatterjee and features Koel Mallick, Koneenica Bandyopadhyay, Parambrata Chatterjee and Joy Sengupta. Bhugun is directed by Debaloy Bhattacharya and features Abhishek Banerjee, Parno Mittra, Loknath De, Subrat Dutta, Ridhhi Ghosh, Aryaa Ray, Tota Roy Choudhury and Rajesh Sharma.

Bangladesh is now integral to the story. It has become part of hoichoi’s Bengali storytelling universe, with the platform continuing to invest in local creators, stories and productions. The Bangladesh slate brings together established and emerging talent, strengthening hoichoi’s ability to tell stories across the Bengali-speaking world while building audiences on both sides of the border. That engagement with established and emerging talent across India and Bangladesh remains central to the creative approach, bringing together celebrated creators, fresh directors, new performers and distinctive voices that expand the possibilities of Bengali storytelling.

The ambition also stretches beyond language. While Bengali remains at the heart of hoichoi, the platform is increasingly focused on taking Bengali IP beyond language and geography. Through dubbing, licensing, adaptations, theatrical releases and partnerships, stories that originate on hoichoi are finding new audiences across India and international markets.

Business: building for sustainable growth

The analysis is where hoichoi stands apart. Over the last decade it has deliberately built for sustainable growth rather than scale at any cost. The platform has invested in owning its core technology, building a direct relationship with consumers and creating multiple monetisation opportunities around its IP, from subscriptions and licensing to branded content, theatrical and distribution partnerships.

A major milestone has been the move to a homegrown technology stack. It gives hoichoi greater control over its product, consumer experience, data and ability to innovate, and lets product, content and business decisions work together more closely as the platform evolves.

The operating model is disciplined, with profitability and long-term value creation central to its growth philosophy. Rather than pursuing scale as an end in itself, hoichoi has focused on building lasting audience relationships, distinctive IP and a business model rooted in the value it creates for consumers.

The customer-first approach goes beyond viewing behaviour. Audience feedback, consumer conversations, cultural understanding and platform intelligence all inform content development, programming and the overall viewing experience. The objective is to understand not just what audiences watch, but what they seek, what resonates with them and what makes them return. The same approach has helped hoichoi build a strong creator network of established names, independent production partners, emerging talent and new directorial voices, with creators given the freedom to tell distinctive stories while combining creative instinct with a deep understanding of the audience.

Beyond streaming: building the next generation of entertainment

As entertainment evolves, hoichoi is expanding beyond traditional streaming into new formats and technologies. hoichoi FM brings original audio storytelling directly within the hoichoi app, creating another avenue for Bengali narratives. SOOPER expands into bite-sized microdramas and new forms of serialised storytelling across languages and markets.

AI is also part of the next phase of experimentation. Through LoglineAI and other AI-led initiatives, the company is exploring how technology can accelerate creative development, enable new production models, and create formats that were previously difficult to produce at scale. Together, these initiatives reflect a broader ambition: to build not just for how audiences consume entertainment today, but for the formats, technologies and storytelling behaviours that will shape the next decade.

The tenth year, therefore, is both a celebration and a continuation. It is a moment to acknowledge the stories and relationships that have shaped hoichoi, while creating room for new formats, new creative collaborations and new possibilities.

What the bosses say

Reminiscing about the journey, Soumya Mukherjee, chief operating officer of hoichoi, says: “For me, 10 years of hoichoi is not just about the number of shows we have made or the milestones we have crossed. It is about the stories, characters and creators that have stayed with people and, in many ways, become part of Bengali popular culture. When we started, the ambition was simply to create a home for Bengali stories. Ten years later, that belief remains the same, but the possibilities around those stories have become much bigger. We have seen Bengali IP grow beyond the screen it was created for, through adaptations, licensing, theatrical, partnerships, new formats and, increasingly, our stories are travelling beyond Bengal and beyond language. Season 10 is a celebration of how far Bengali storytelling has come, how much further our IP can travel, and, more importantly, of how much more there is still to tell.”

Adding to this, Vishnu Mohta, co-founder of hoichoi and Logline AI, says: “The first decade of hoichoi was about proving that a language-first platform could build a meaningful global business. The next decade is about expanding what that platform can become. Technology, AI and new formats are opening up possibilities that simply didn’t exist when we started. Our ambition is to use those possibilities without losing the cultural instinct and storytelling sensibility that made hoichoi what it is.”
