BULLET unveils India’s first AI-led anime feature The Dwarka Project
100-minute sci-fi film is entirely created on India-developed Trinetra AI platform
MUMBAI: The future is getting animated and this time, AI is calling the shots. BULLET Microdrama, backed by Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (Z), has unveiled the trailer of The Dwarka Project, an original Indian sci-fi anime feature that it describes as India’s first AI-led anime film.
The 100-minute film was unveiled at Anime India and is the first content project created entirely on Trinetra AI, BULLET’s India-developed AI filmmaking platform designed to help creators develop and produce original stories through an AI-led filmmaking process.
Set in 2166, The Dwarka Project follows Parth, a young man from the Marshland who ventures into the mainland searching for his abducted father. His journey takes a dramatic turn when he discovers extraordinary powers connected to the underwater city of Dwarka.
What begins as a search for his father soon opens the door to a much bigger conflict involving social divisions, advanced technology and a powerful corporation attempting to control the future. As Parth struggles to understand and control his newfound abilities, he finds an unlikely ally in his mysterious roommate Vicky, who helps him navigate the battle ahead.
The film uses the anime format to build an original Indian science-fiction world, combining futuristic technology with themes of identity, belonging, power and social inequality.
For BULLET, however, the bigger experiment sits behind the screen. The Dwarka Project has been created entirely on Trinetra AI, making the film a test of whether an AI-led production pipeline can move beyond individual creative experiments and support a full-length feature.
Azim Lalani, Co-Founder and Chief Business Officer, BULLET Microdrama, said the project was conceived to explore what filmmaking could look like without some of the conventional production constraints. He described The Dwarka Project as both an original sci-fi story and a test of a new production model built around AI.
The trailer was exclusively screened at Anime India, with the launch hosted by RJ Dheeraj.
By putting an Indian sci-fi narrative, anime aesthetics and an AI-led production process into the same 100-minute package, The Dwarka Project puts a new question on the screen: as AI becomes another filmmaking tool, can it also change the scale and shape of the stories India tells?
