Spider-Man: Brand New Day crosses Rs 100 crore in just two days
Marvel film collects Rs 109.95 crore net in India as Day 2 earns Rs 49.35 crore
MUMBAI: Spider-Man didn’t just swing into cinemas, he webbed up the box office in record time. Marvel’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day has raced past the Rs 100 crore net milestone in India within just two days of release, cementing its position as one of the biggest Hollywood openings the country has ever witnessed.
According to trade figures, the Tom Holland and Zendaya starrer collected Rs 49.35 crore net on Day 2 across 16,902 shows, taking its cumulative India tally to Rs 109.95 crore net and Rs 131.46 crore gross.
The strong Friday performance follows an already record-breaking opening day, when the film debuted with Rs 60.60 crore net, overtaking Avengers: Endgame‘s previous Hollywood Day 1 benchmark of around Rs 54 crore net (Rs 65 crore gross) to register the biggest opening-day collection for a Hollywood release in India.
The film maintained solid momentum throughout its second day, recording an overall occupancy of 49.31 per cent. Morning shows registered 31.56 per cent occupancy, rising to 44.56 per cent in the afternoon, 54.33 per cent in the evening and peaking at 66.78 per cent during the night shows.
The English-language version remained the primary revenue driver, contributing an estimated Rs 28 crore net while posting 47 per cent occupancy. The Hindi-dubbed version followed with around Rs 17 crore net and an impressive 90 per cent occupancy. The Tamil and Telugu versions added approximately Rs 2.25 crore and Rs 2 crore respectively, while the Malayalam and Kannada releases contributed about Rs 7 lakh and Rs 3 lakh.
The film’s momentum has extended beyond India as well. Trade estimates suggest Spider-Man: Brand New Day generated an overseas collection of around Rs 1,925 crore on Day 2, underlining its strong global appeal.
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, the latest instalment picks up after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, with Peter Parker navigating a world that no longer remembers his identity as Spider-Man after his life-altering decision. Alongside Tom Holland, the film features Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Sadie Sink and Mark Ruffalo in key roles.
With a record-breaking opening behind it and weekend collections still to come, Spider-Man: Brand New Day has already spun one of the strongest starts ever for a Hollywood blockbuster in India.
