Hero Destini campaign puts fathers in the spotlight with fantasy tale
McCann India film swaps feature-heavy ads for emotional storytelling on family rides
MUMBAI: Every superhero needs a sidekick, and this one comes with two wheels. Hero MotoCorp is steering away from the usual horsepower pitch, choosing instead to celebrate fatherhood through a child’s boundless imagination in its latest campaign for the Hero Destini scooter.
Conceptualised by McCann India, part of Omnicom Advertising India, the campaign, titled ‘Hero Ka Scooter, Scooter Ka Hero’, shifts the spotlight from specifications to storytelling, tapping into the universal belief that every child sees their father as an invincible hero.
At a time when scooter advertising is dominated by conversations around mileage, storage and performance, Hero Destini takes a more emotional route. The campaign positions the scooter as the dependable companion that quietly supports everyday family adventures.
The digital film follows a young girl recounting what begins as an ordinary evening ride with her father before transforming into a fantastical jungle adventure. Along the way, they encounter a fire-breathing dragon, with the scooter’s everyday features becoming unexpected heroes of the story. Its all-metal body shields them from flames, its best-in-class mileage helps outpace the dragon in a race, its spacious legroom stores a dragon fruit to befriend the creature, and its generous under-seat storage even carries corn that is later turned into popcorn using the dragon’s fiery breath.
The adventure ends with the dragon acknowledging the father as the true hero, reinforcing the campaign’s central message that while every child sees a superhero in their parent, every hero deserves a trusted companion.
The campaign also subtly highlights Hero Destini’s core attributes, including its robust all-metal body, spacious under-seat storage, roomy leg space, fuel efficiency and family-friendly comfort, weaving them naturally into the narrative instead of presenting them as a checklist.
Speaking on the campaign, Aashish Midha, Head of Marketing at Hero MotoCorp, said the film celebrates parents as everyday heroes while bringing the Hero Destini’s values of trust, comfort and practicality to life through an emotionally engaging story.
Echoing the creative approach Omnicom Advertising India chairman Prasoon Joshi said memorable campaigns begin with emotions people already feel rather than messages brands want to deliver. He added that the film succeeds by elevating an everyday father-child bond into an imaginative adventure, allowing the brand to become part of that emotional journey rather than simply advertising a product.
With the latest campaign, Hero MotoCorp is betting that a heartfelt story can travel further than a list of features, turning an everyday scooter ride into a reminder that the biggest adventures often begin with the smallest imaginations.
