Zee appoints Sudeep Nagpurkar as chief sales officer for social platforms

NOIDA: Zee Entertainment Enterprises is placing a fresh bet on the creator economy, roping in Sudeep Nagpurkar as chief sales officer, social platforms, creator economy and partnerships. Based out of Noida, Nagpurkar will report to Sandeep Mehrotra, chief operating officer, advertisement revenue, at the broadcaster known simply as Z.

The hire lands as brands scramble to keep up with what Zee calls the attention economy, a landscape where content, creators, communities and commerce increasingly blur into one. The company is betting that a dedicated push on social platforms and creator networks can unlock monetisation it has yet to tap.

Nagpurkar’s brief is broad: work the room with platforms, creators, brands and advertisers to cook up fresh monetisation models, chase new revenue streams, and drive strategic collaborations that deepen Zee’s footprint in the fast-expanding creator space.

Mehrotra was in expansive mood over the appointment, pointing to the convergence of content, technology and commerce as fertile ground for a future-ready revenue ecosystem, and welcoming Nagpurkar’s partnership-building chops as a shot in the arm for Zee’s digital ambitions.

Nagpurkar himself struck an equally bullish note, arguing that creators and social platforms are rewriting how audiences discover and engage with content, and casting the moment as ripe for brands to build more authentic, outcome-driven connections with consumers.

He arrives with over 16 years across consumer technology, B2B SaaS, retail and FMCG, including a stint at Google India as head of industry, FMCG, where he drove marketing transformation for large consumer conglomerates, and earlier grounding in consultative sales at National Instruments, now part of Emerson.

With Nagpurkar now in the chair, Zee is signalling it wants a bigger slice of the creator economy pie, and it has just handed the knife to someone who has spent 16 years learning exactly how to cut it.
