NEW DELHI: Hero is keeping its growth story in top gear. Hero MotoCorp, the world’s largest manufacturer of motorcycles and scooters, reported strong sales momentum in May 2026, dispatching 5,70,068 units and posting healthy growth across domestic, export and electric vehicle segments.

The company dispatched 5,70,068 motorcycles and scooters during the month, up from 5,07,701 units in May 2025, reflecting year-on-year growth of around 12 per cent.

Domestic demand remained robust, supported by healthy retail activity across the country. According to VAHAN data, Hero MotoCorp recorded 4,96,957 vehicle registrations during May 2026, underscoring continued consumer demand despite a competitive market environment.

The company’s domestic dispatches stood at 5,36,784 units in May 2026, compared with 4,88,997 units in the corresponding month last year. Domestic business growth of nearly 10 per cent was driven by strong performances in the Deluxe 125cc, premium motorcycle and scooter categories, all of which registered double-digit growth.

Motorcycles continued to contribute the bulk of volumes, with dispatches rising to 5,03,763 units from 4,75,164 units a year earlier. Scooter sales saw even stronger momentum, more than doubling to 66,305 units from 32,537 units in May 2025.

The company’s year-to-date performance has also started on a strong note. Total dispatches for FY27 so far have reached 11,36,154 units, compared with 8,13,107 units during the same period of FY26. Motorcycle dispatches stood at 10,05,554 units, while scooter volumes reached 1,30,600 units.

Electric mobility continued to emerge as a key growth driver. Hero MotoCorp’s EV business, VIDA, recorded 19,052 VAHAN registrations in May 2026, delivering an impressive 166 per cent retail growth compared with the same month last year.

As part of its efforts to broaden its appeal among younger consumers, VIDA commenced retail operations of the DIRT.E K3 electric vehicle in select markets. The move expands the company’s electric mobility portfolio and strengthens accessibility across customer segments.

VIDA also earned industry recognition during the month. Its partnership with Kolkata Knight Riders was awarded Breakthrough Marketing Campaign of the Year at the Times Drive Auto Summit and Awards. The honour was presented by Nitin Gadkari, Union minister for road transport and highways.

Hero MotoCorp further strengthened its position in the commuter motorcycle segment with the launch of the all-new Super Splendor XTEC 2.0. Building on a legacy spanning more than three decades, the upgraded model introduces enhanced technology and rider-focused features aimed at reinforcing the brand’s leadership in the 125cc category.

International markets also delivered a standout performance. Export dispatches surged nearly 78 per cent year-on-year to 33,284 units in May 2026, compared with 18,704 units in the same month last year.

The company attributed the strong export growth to rising demand across key international markets, supported by an expanding premium motorcycle portfolio and focused market expansion initiatives.

Year-to-date exports have reached 66,937 units, significantly higher than the 35,586 units recorded during the corresponding period of the previous financial year.

With domestic demand holding firm, exports accelerating and VIDA gaining traction in the fast-growing electric vehicle segment, Hero MotoCorp appears well positioned to sustain its momentum. As the company continues to expand its product portfolio across both conventional and electric mobility, it is aiming to keep growth firmly in the fast lane through FY27.
