Sony Pictures Networks India promotes Sushant Rane to associate vice president, region head west
A decade in media, a string of marquee deals, and now a bigger seat at the table
MUMBAI: Sushant Rane is moving up. Sony Pictures Networks India has promoted the advertising and partnerships veteran to associate vice president, region head west, a role he steps into this month after nearly five years with the company.
Rane has been the driving force behind SonyLIV’s advertising revenue and strategic partnerships across the west region and international markets. His portfolio reads like a highlight reel of Indian television: brand integrations on Shark Tank India, Kaun Banega Crorepati, and live sports — the kind of properties that advertisers queue up for.
The promotion follows two and a half years as region head west for SonyLIV’s emerging business ad sales, a stint that saw him sharpen the platform’s OTT strategy and deepen brand partnerships. Before that, he spent over two years as manager, large customer ad sales at SonyLIV, building the commercial relationships that underpin the platform’s growth.
Rane’s media career stretches back over a decade. He spent more than five years at Discovery Inc, rising from executive to assistant manager across infotainment, sports, and digital. Earlier, he cut his teeth in advertising sales at Star India.
“Grateful to the leaders and mentors who believed in me,” Rane said on his promotion, reserving particular credit for his team. “Your resilience and relentless effort made every milestone achievable.”
In a rapidly consolidating OTT market where ad revenue is becoming as fiercely contested as subscriptions, Rane now has the mandate and the rank to fight for both.
