SC postpones decision on Zee’s ‘Kanhaiyaa’

MUMBAI: The Supreme Court, which was expected to deliver its final verdict on Monday, 10 April 2003 about the Zee’s beleaguered Sunday morning show Kanhaiyya, has postponed the adjudication for a later date.

The apex court will now be delivering its decision on the copywrite infringement case filed against Zee by production house Sundial Communications either sometime this week or in the next three months.

According to the information with indiantelevision, the show will not be telecast till the Supreme Court announces its final verdict.

The Sunday morning show with dollops of religiosity thrown in has been swimming in troubled waters ever since its first proposed launch on 9 March. After the launch was stalled, Zee managed to get an ad interim injunction and premiered the show a week later only to be stayed again by the divisional bench.

Zee, then, approached the Mumbai High Court which subsequently issued a verdict in Sundial’s favour, the case was then transfered to the Supreme Court on 27 March.
