MUMBAI: The remote battle is getting tighter, and Zee TV has just turned up the volume. The Hindi general entertainment channel has recorded its strongest performance in a decade, reaching 133 GRPs and a 19.5 per cent share in HSM Urban in the latest ratings week, its highest level since 2015. The milestone brings Zee TV closer to the top spot in the fiercely contested Hindi GEC market and underscores the momentum behind its fiction-led content strategy.

The channel’s recent surge has been driven by a steady stream of culturally rooted dramas that have struck a chord with viewers across demographics. More importantly, Zee TV has managed to convert that audience affinity into sustained ratings strength rather than short-lived spikes.

The broadcaster has now maintained its leadership position in core primetime for 32 consecutive weeks and remained the most-watched channel in primetime for 16 straight weeks, highlighting the consistency of its performance.

A significant contribution has come from fiction titles such as Vasudha, Tumm Se Tumm Tak and Ganga Mai Ki Betiyaan. The shows have emerged as standout performers, with their emotionally driven storytelling and strong character arcs helping them secure the top three spots in the genre in the latest week.

The channel is looking to build further on this momentum with upcoming launches including Tu Hi Re Dil Mein and Dilon Ki Ram Leela, which are expected to strengthen its fiction slate in the months ahead.

Beyond weekly gains, the broader trend also points to sustained audience growth. Over the past four weeks, Zee TV has ranked as the third-largest Hindi Pay GEC channel in the 15+ HSM Urban segment, while securing the second position in the 15+ HSM Urban + Rural market.

The turnaround reflects a wider shift in audience preferences towards stories that blend tradition with contemporary themes. Rather than relying solely on spectacle, Zee TV has focused on relatable characters, family dynamics and culturally familiar narratives, creating a fiction ecosystem that continues to attract loyal viewers.

With ratings momentum accelerating and new shows waiting in the wings, Zee TV appears to be narrowing the gap in the Hindi entertainment race. In a market where every rating point counts, the channel’s latest numbers suggest its long-running content bet is beginning to pay off in a big way.
