ZEE Marathi takes ‘Paaul Pudhe Padlay’ global with Wagah shoot, world record milestone

MUMBAI: ZEE Marathi is taking its ‘Paaul Pudhe Padlay… Jamlay!’ philosophy quite literally, stepping beyond familiar television sets and into record-book territory.

The channel has marked its new brand philosophy with two milestones involving its shows ‘Tarini’ and ‘Home Minister’. While ‘Tarini’ has become the first Marathi show to shoot at the Attari-Wagah Border, ‘Home Minister’ has secured a world record after more than 2,500 women gathered in Kolhapur to perform the traditional aushakshan for host Aadesh Bandekar.

The two initiatives are designed to reflect ZEE Marathi’s positioning around progress, possibility and the confidence to move beyond the familiar, while remaining rooted in Marathi culture.

For ‘Tarini’, the move takes the show’s undercover-cop protagonist into a larger national-security storyline. As part of its ‘Operation Tiranga’ track, the show travelled to Amritsar and filmed at the Attari-Wagah Border, making it the first Marathi television show to shoot at the iconic location.

The storyline follows Tarini as she attempts to uncover a conspiracy while protecting her identity. During the mission, she assumes a new identity as Salma, taking the narrative beyond the usual settings associated with Marathi fiction.

The location shoot gives the show a wider canvas while keeping its central themes of courage, justice and determination intact. It also represents a push towards more ambitious storytelling in Marathi television.

Meanwhile, ‘Home Minister’ is celebrating a milestone of a different kind. Hosted by Aadesh Bandekar, the show has been a fixture of Maharashtra’s television landscape for two decades, building a strong connection with women and families by showcasing their stories and everyday achievements.

Over its 20-year run, ‘Home Minister’ has travelled nearly 25 lakh kilometres, reached thousands of households and presented around 7,500 Paithani sarees to women through its game-show format. The long-running association has also helped establish Bandekar’s affectionate ‘Bhauji’ identity among viewers.

Its latest chapter began with a large-scale celebration in Kolhapur, where more than 2,500 women came together to perform a traditional aushakshan for Bandekar. The gathering was recognised by the World Records Book of India, turning a familiar Maharashtrian tradition into a large public celebration.

The two milestones underline the different ways ZEE Marathi is interpreting its new philosophy. ‘Tarini’ is pushing Marathi fiction into new physical and narrative territory, while ‘Home Minister’ is taking a deeply familiar cultural tradition and giving it a record-setting scale.

‘Home Minister’ premieres its new chapter on August 31 at 6pm, while ‘Tarini: Operation Tiranga’ airs Monday to Friday at 9.30pm on ZEE Marathi.
