MUMBAI: Game, set and padel. The World Padel League (WPL) has unveiled the squads for its fourth season, bringing together former world No. 1 players, Premier Padel champions and some of the sport’s top-ranked stars for a five-day franchise tournament in Mumbai next month.

Licensed and managed by Iconik Sports and Events Ltd., the league will be held at the Dome, SVP Stadium from August 12 to 16, with six franchises competing for the Season 4 title. Organisers said this year’s edition features the strongest player line-up since the tournament’s inception.

The competition will feature 36 international players representing six countries, including three former world No. 1s, more than 10 Premier Padel champions and 13 players currently ranked among the world’s top 20.

Among the biggest attractions are former world No. 1s Paula Josemaria, Marta Ortega and Carlos Daniel “Sanyo” Gutierrez, alongside international stars Beatriz Gonzalez, Juan Tello, Jon Sanz, Lucas Campagnolo, Luciano Capra and Aranzazu Osoro.

Organisers said the franchise format will create fresh partnerships between players who are usually rivals on the international tour while also renewing several established rivalries under new team colours.

The six teams competing this season are:

  • Khan Tigers: Javier García, Lucas Campagnolo, Raquel Eugenio, Martina Fassio, Inigo Jofre and Andres Lancha.
  • Aussie Mavericks Jaguars: Pol Hernandez, Guille Collado, Alejandra Alonso, Claudia Jensen, Enzo Jensen and Ignacio Piotto.
  • Hubtown Panorama Panthers: Enrique Goenaga, Ramiro Valenzuela, Juan Tello, Eduardo Alonso, Marta Barrera and Marta Caparros.
  • Game Changers Lions: Federico Mourino, Teodoro Zapata, Paula Josemaria, Beatriz Gonzalez, Gonzalo Alfonso and Carlos Daniel “Sanyo” Gutierrez.
  • Vedanta Leopards: Nuno Deus, Miguel Deus, Marta Ortega Gallego, Veronica Virseda, Francisco Guerrero and Javier Ruiz.
  • VB Realty Cheetahs: Jorge Nieto, Jon Sanz, Aranzazu Osoro, Julieta Bidahorria, Jesus Moya and Luciano Capra.

The World Padel League debuted in the UAE before expanding to India in 2025 and has since positioned itself as one of the country’s leading padel events. The organisers say the tournament has helped introduce Indian audiences to one of the world’s fastest-growing racquet sports through a team-based format featuring elite international talent.

Tickets for the tournament are now available on BookMyShow. With several of the sport’s biggest names set to compete under one roof, the league is hoping its fourth season will further accelerate padel’s growing popularity in India while delivering its most competitive edition yet.
