NEW DELHI: Keeping the momentum on the mat. Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) and the Inspire Institute of Sport (IIS) have extended their high-performance partnership for another three years, with the renewed agreement set to run until March 31, 2029.

The extension will see IIS continue supporting India’s national wrestling programme across senior, junior and cadet categories, reinforcing a collaboration aimed at improving athlete preparation through sports science and high-performance expertise.

Promoted by the JSW Group, IIS will continue working alongside WFI to provide integrated support during national coaching camps and athlete development programmes. The institute’s contribution will span areas including sports science, strength and conditioning, recovery, performance analytics and international-standard training systems.

The renewed agreement builds on a previous partnership that concluded in 2023 and reflects both organisations’ continued focus on strengthening India’s wrestling ecosystem ahead of future international competitions.

Commenting on the partnership, Wrestling Federation of India president Sanjay Kumar Singh said the collaboration has already delivered tangible benefits to the national programme.

“We are pleased to continue our association with Inspire Institute of Sport and JSW in our collective mission to strengthen Indian wrestling. Their expertise in athlete development and high-performance systems has added significant value to our national programme, and we believe this renewed partnership will further enhance the preparation and performance of our wrestlers across all levels,” Singh said.

Under the new agreement, IIS will continue providing world-class performance support for national camps while helping wrestlers prepare for international events through structured athlete development initiatives.

Speaking on the extension, Inspire Institute of Sport president Manisha Malhotra said the institute remains committed to building a sustainable high-performance environment for Indian athletes.

“We are delighted to renew our partnership with the Wrestling Federation of India. At IIS, we remain committed to creating a world-class high-performance environment that enables Indian athletes to realise their full potential. We look forward to continuing our support for Indian wrestling and contributing to its long-term growth,” Malhotra said.

Beyond athlete preparation, the agreement also includes continued collaboration on long-term high-performance planning, athlete support initiatives and branding opportunities, further deepening the relationship between the two organisations.

The partnership reflects a broader trend in Indian sport, where federations are increasingly working with specialised high-performance centres to complement traditional coaching with sports science, data analytics and recovery programmes. As India continues to target stronger performances at global championships and future Olympic Games, sustained collaborations such as this are expected to play an increasingly important role in developing the country’s next generation of wrestling talent.
