Sony Sports Network secures India matches against Brazil, Uruguay and Panama
Blue Tigers face three international opponents between September 25 and October 6
MUMBAI: Indian football is about to get a very big fixture list and an even bigger audience. The Blue Tigers will face five-time FIFA World Cup champions Brazil, two-time champions Uruguay and World Cup participants Panama in a rare three-match international window, with Sony Sports Network securing exclusive television and digital rights for all three games. The matches will be played in Bengaluru and Kolkata between September 25 and October 6, 2026, with fans across India and the subcontinent able to watch them on Sony Sports Network, Sony AATH and Sony LIV. The series begins at Bengaluru’s Sree Kanteerava Stadium on September 25, when India face Panama for the first time in senior men’s international football. Ranked among the world’s top 50 teams, Panama will provide a stern opening test for the Blue Tigers. The action then moves to Kolkata’s Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan, better known as Salt Lake Stadium, for two heavyweight encounters. India take on Brazil on October 3 in what will be the highest-ranked opposition the Blue Tigers have faced since the FIFA World Ranking was introduced in 1992. Three days later, on October 6, Uruguay will complete the three-match run. For India, the fixtures offer more than glamour. They will put the team’s skill, pace and temperament under the microscope against three sides with vastly different levels of experience on the global stage. Brazil arrive as five-time world champions, while Uruguay have lifted the World Cup twice. Panama, meanwhile, bring their own competitive pedigree and a current top-50 ranking into the opening match. For fans, the attraction is rather simpler: three famous football nations, one Indian team and some of the biggest home fixtures the Blue Tigers have had in years. Rajesh Kaul, Chief Revenue Officer and Business Head, Sports and International, Sony Pictures Networks India, called the series an “extraordinary moment” for Indian football and said SPNI was proud to bring the matches live across its television, regional and digital platforms. M Satyanarayan, Deputy Secretary General of the All India Football Federation, said facing Brazil, Uruguay and Panama would give Indian players exposure to the pace, quality and intensity of top-level international football. Brazilian Football Confederation President Samir Xaud said the Brazil-India meeting in Kolkata would be an opportunity to strengthen links between the two countries’ football communities. The acquisition adds another high-profile property to SPNI’s football portfolio, but the real headline will be written on the pitch. From Panama on September 25 to Brazil on October 3 and Uruguay on October 6, India’s Blue Tigers are heading into a window where the opposition will be world-class and the spotlight even brighter.
