Rubika Liyaquat returns to primetime with News18 India’s ‘Aar Paar’

NEW DELHI: Rubika Liyaquat is returning to the primetime debate arena, taking the anchor’s chair on News18 India’s flagship show ‘Aar Paar’ from 12 October. The hour-long programme will air daily at 6:50 pm, bringing the journalist’s sharp questioning and conversational style to the channel’s debates on major national issues.

One of News18 India’s established primetime properties, ‘Aar Paar’ examines the day’s big developments through contrasting viewpoints, with a focus on their implications for ordinary people. Liyaquat’s appointment marks a new phase for the show, which aims to retain its editorial approach of taking clear positions while giving opposing voices room to present their arguments.

Known for her assertive on-screen presence and audience connect, Liyaquat is expected to bring a fresh dimension to discussions around the issues shaping the national conversation.

Speaking about her new role, Rubika Liyaquat said, “‘Aar Paar’ is one of News18 India’s flagship properties, and viewers have always connected with the show for the depth and different perspectives it brings to the issues of the day. I’m looking forward to taking that legacy forward in my own way, with sharper questions, fearless conversations, and, most importantly, a strong connection with our viewers.”

News18 India managing editor Jyoti Kamal said the programme would seek to move beyond the immediate headlines and examine the different layers of issues that matter to viewers.

“‘Aar Paar’ has always been a destination for issues that matter to people. The idea is to go beyond the immediate headline, bring different layers and perspectives to an issue, and give viewers a deeper understanding of what is at stake,” Kamal said.

He added that Liyaquat’s debating style and rapport with audiences would bring a new dimension to the programme and support compelling conversations in the evening primetime slot.
