CHENNAI: The game of power is about to get a fresh mandate. JioHotstar and Asianet have released the first teaser for Season 8 of Bigg Boss Malayalam, with host Mohanlal promising a season centred on strategy, influence and the power of the people.

The teaser arrives after months of speculation surrounding the show’s return and offers the first glimpse of the season’s central theme, even as the contestant line-up remains under wraps.

The new season’s logo incorporates the Greek word for “Democracy”, while the tagline, “Bigg Boss: Coming to Power Soon,” signals a format that will place greater emphasis on voting, public authority and revised game rules.

Shot in a cinematic style, the teaser opens with Mohanlal driving to a deserted library draped in cobwebs. As he walks through shelves of ancient books, he picks up Chanakya’s Arthashastra before delivering a dramatic monologue on leadership and governance.

Quoting the ancient political treatise, Mohanlal says that a ruler’s happiness lies in the happiness and welfare of the people before adding the teaser’s defining line: “I’m not the king… I’m the kingmaker.”

The promo suggests that the upcoming season will shift its focus towards strategic thinking and calculated gameplay, with contestants expected to rely as much on intelligence and alliances as on popularity.
