Pogo brings Chota Bheem and Little Singham into new superhero universe

MUMBAI: Two desi superheroes are finally swapping solo missions for a shared universe, as Pogo brings Chota Bheem and Little Singham together in a new franchise, Rise of Anshaks: Heroes of Destiny. The Warner Bros Discovery kids channel is building a new universe around the two popular characters, taking them into a dramatic storyline that marks a departure from the worlds audiences have traditionally seen them in.

The franchise will also introduce three new superheroes Bhuvan, Aandhi and Anashwari adding fresh characters and a deeper mythology to the universe. The project is expected to have several surprises in store as the new characters and established heroes come together.

Sai Abishek, who heads original content commissions, programming strategy, DTC curation, acquisitions, planning, localisation and operations at Warner Bros Discovery, described the project as a rewarding creative experience for his team, particularly in reimagining characters that generations of children in India have grown up watching.

The creative development is being led by Jyoti Vikram, with Chiranjib Sahoo, Roohnaz Khan, Divya Chaturvedi, Nitesh Shrivastava and Rajesh Yadgiri working on the project and its wider creative teams.

For production, Pogo has brought together Green Gold Animation, led by Rajiv Chilaka, and Reliance Animation, led by Dr Tejonidhi Bhandare. Their teams are working on bringing the new universe to life, while Arjun Nohwar has also been credited for enabling the project.

The collaboration brings together two established animation properties with very different superhero identities. Chota Bheem has long been associated with the fictional world of Dholakpur, while Little Singham follows the young police officer and his crime-fighting adventures.

Rise of Anshaks: Heroes of Destiny now puts both characters on the same dramatic playing field while surrounding them with new heroes, new lore and a storyline designed to expand their established worlds.

The project also marks an effort by Pogo to build a larger franchise around familiar Indian animation characters rather than keeping them confined to their individual story universes.

With Chota Bheem and Little Singham sharing the screen and Bhuvan, Aandhi and Anashwari joining the superhero line-up, Pogo is turning a familiar animated world into a much bigger playground.
