News18 India hosts Bihar summit to review government’s first 100 days

MUMBAI: The honeymoon may be over, but the report card is already out. Marking the Bihar government’s first 100 days in office, News18 India hosted the Diamond States Summit – Bihar in Patna, bringing ministers, lawmakers and policy leaders together to assess the administration’s early performance and outline its roadmap for the years ahead.

Billed as the first instance of a national Hindi news channel conducting a comprehensive review of a state government’s first 100 days, the summit centred on the theme “Rajya Nirman se Rashtriya Nirman”, focusing on governance, development and Bihar’s role in India’s broader growth story.

Delivering the keynote address, Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary highlighted the government’s progress across law and order, investment, infrastructure, agriculture, education and employment, while reiterating its vision of “Viksit Bihar, Viksit Bharat.” He said the government aims to position Bihar as a preferred destination for investment, industrial expansion and job creation.

The event brought together several members of the state Cabinet, each presenting priorities and achievements from their respective departments. Industries and Sports Minister Shreyasi Singh outlined measures to boost industrial investment, strengthen the startup ecosystem, generate employment and improve sports infrastructure. Building Construction Minister Leshi Singh spoke about the development of government infrastructure, public buildings and major construction projects across the state.

Information and Public Relations and Rural Development Minister Shravan Kumar highlighted efforts to strengthen rural development, improve the delivery of welfare schemes at the panchayat level and enhance communication between the government and citizens.

Minor Water Resources Minister Santosh Kumar Suman detailed initiatives aimed at expanding irrigation facilities, conserving water resources and improving agricultural productivity.

Information Technology and Urban Development and Housing Minister Nitish Mishra presented plans to modernise Bihar’s cities through better urban infrastructure, expanded housing schemes and improved civic amenities.

Public Health Engineering Minister Sanjay Singh outlined progress in drinking water supply, sanitation and water infrastructure, while Education Minister Mithilesh Tiwari focused on improving teaching standards, modernising school education and expanding opportunities for young people.

Panchayati Raj Minister Deepak Prakash discussed initiatives to strengthen local self-governance and accelerate rural development, while Road Construction Minister Kumar Shailendra highlighted ongoing efforts to expand road connectivity and improve transport infrastructure to support economic growth. The summit also featured Member of Parliament and former Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, who placed Bihar’s development within the national vision of a developed India, while Lok Sabha MP Arun Bharti spoke about youth aspirations, entrepreneurship and employment opportunities in the state.

Beyond reviewing the government’s first 100 days, the Diamond States Summit – Bihar served as a platform for wider discussions on governance, infrastructure and economic development, reflecting the growing role of news platforms in shaping public policy conversations alongside reporting them.
