MUMBAI: News18 Bangla is giving its editorial engine a fresh tune-up. News18 Bangla has strengthened its editorial leadership with the appointment of Raja Chatterjee as editor and Anirban Sinha as editor, output, as it looks to sharpen its news coverage and strengthen its presence across platforms.

Chatterjee brings a long career across leading media organisations and is regarded as an established media personality in Bengal. Sinha, a familiar face in Bengali news, brings experience in television news and audience-focused programming to his new role.

The channel will also draw on the expertise of Kamalika Sengupta, who represents CNN-News18 in eastern India. Her experience at CNN-News18 will be used to strengthen News18 Bangla’s editorial approach and bring greater depth and perspective to its coverage.

The expanded editorial team will operate under the leadership of Dhrubajyoti Pramanik, managing editor at Network18. Pramanik has more than three decades of experience in Indian media and has worked across regional markets through multiple political developments and changes in government.

Under Pramanik’s leadership, News18 Marathi moved to the No. 1 position in Maharashtra, while News18 Odia and News18 Assam Northeast have also recorded editorial growth and turnaround in their respective markets.

The strengthened team will focus on news-led programming, deeper reporting and stories with greater relevance to viewers. News18 Bangla will continue its emphasis on local and hyperlocal news from across West Bengal while using Network18’s wider newsgathering network to expand its national and international coverage.

The strategy also extends beyond traditional television. The channel plans to strengthen its presence across Connected TV, digital platforms, social media and the web as audiences increasingly consume news across multiple screens.

Network18 managing editor Dhrubajyoti Pramanik said News18 Bangla is looking to become more accessible and relevant across the platforms where audiences follow news.

“With our strengthened editorial leadership and the wider capabilities of Network18, our focus is to make the channel more accessible, relevant and impactful, delivering credible journalism across platforms,” Pramanik said.

The leadership changes come as News18 Bangla seeks to combine stronger regional reporting with the reach and resources of a national news network, with the aim of making its coverage faster, deeper and more relevant across West Bengal and beyond.
