MUMBAI: As the new Samvat lights up the investment calendar, India’s market watchers will be looking beyond the festive sparkle to see where the real wealth creation opportunities lie. NDTV Profit is bringing some of the country’s most prominent market leaders, investors and fund managers together for its NDTV Profit Ignite: Diwali Edition on 28 October 2026 in Mumbai, with discussions set to examine the opportunities, risks and valuations shaping India’s investment landscape.

The event will feature Tuhin Kanta Pandey, chairman of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), and Ashishkumar Chauhan, managing director and CEO of the National Stock Exchange (NSE), alongside leading investors and asset management professionals. Their participation comes as investors enter a new Samvat with questions about economic growth, corporate performance, market valuations and the factors that could influence returns in the year ahead.

Raamdeo Agrawal, chairman and co-founder of Motilal Oswal Financial Services, will also join the line-up, alongside Ramesh Damani, member of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE); S. Naren, executive director and chief investment officer of ICICI Prudential Asset Management Company; and Sandeep Tandon, founder and chief investment officer of quant Mutual Fund.

The event will bring together perspectives from across the investment ecosystem, from market institutions and fund management to individual investing and business strategy. Other speakers include Harvard Business School professor Ranjay Gulati, who holds the Paul R. Lawrence Professorship of Business Administration; individual investor Vijay Kedia; Vikas Khemani, founder and chief investment officer of Carnelian Asset Management & Advisors; and Radhika Gupta, managing director and CEO of Edelweiss Mutual Fund.

Indian music composer and producer Sulaiman Merchant will also feature at the event, adding a voice from outside the conventional financial markets circuit.

Beyond the speaker list, the central question for the Diwali edition is how investors can distinguish a promising opportunity from an attractively packaged but expensive bet. While the start of a new Samvat traditionally brings fresh hopes for wealth creation, investment decisions still depend on the relationship between a company’s prospects, its underlying performance and the price investors are willing to pay.

The discussions are expected to examine how market participants assess these factors, identify emerging opportunities and respond to uncertainty. For investors, the challenge is not merely to find businesses with growth potential, but to judge whether that potential is already reflected in their valuations.

Rahul Kanwal, CEO and editor-in-chief of NDTV, said the growing interest in India’s investment story made informed market conversations increasingly important. He said audiences needed access to people who could explain the forces shaping markets, challenge prevailing assumptions and bring greater depth to investment discussions.

“NDTV Profit Ignite brings these perspectives together at a time when investors are setting fresh expectations for the year ahead,” Kanwal said.

Tamanna Inamdar, managing editor of NDTV Profit, said the new Samvat arrives as Indian markets contend with multiple challenges and headwinds she described as the most significant since the Covid period. Investors, she said, are once again weighing where to put their money, what risks to watch and whether their existing strategies need to change.

“The most useful answers come when we examine the reasoning behind an investment view, the assumptions supporting it and the risks that could change it,” Inamdar said, adding that NDTV Profit Ignite aims to bring that depth to the conversation and offer viewers perspectives they can apply to their own financial decisions.

The focus on investment reasoning is particularly relevant during a season when optimism can run high. Festive sentiment may set the mood, but market performance depends on a more complicated mix of business fundamentals, valuations, economic conditions and investor expectations. Understanding those moving parts can help investors look beyond short-term excitement when considering their next move.

By bringing together the regulator, stock exchange leadership, fund managers, market veterans and individual investors, NDTV Profit Ignite: Diwali Edition will offer a platform for differing views on the outlook for Indian markets and the principles behind investment decisions.

For audiences preparing for the new Samvat, the event’s emphasis will be on entering the year with a clearer understanding of both opportunity and risk. In a market where optimism and uncertainty often travel together, the aim is to make the festive investment conversation about more than picking the next winner.
