MUMBAI: When ideas take the stage, headlines are never far behind. The fourth edition of Mumbai Tak Baithak turned into a high-profile platform for political debate and policy signals, with Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announcing that the state would move ahead with plans to introduce a Uniform Civil Code (UCC).

Hosted by digital-first news platform Mumbai Tak, the latest edition of its flagship intellectual property brought together political leaders, policymakers and public figures for discussions on governance, development and the future of Maharashtra.

The event featured an influential line-up including Devendra Fadnavis, Aaditya Thackeray, Chhagan Bhujbal, Satej Patil, Rohit Pawar, Sudhir Mungantiwar and senior journalist and author Girish Kuber. Actors Shreyas Talpade, Jitendra Joshi, Deepti Talpade and Prarthana Behere also participated in the event.

During his session, Fadnavis made one of the day’s biggest announcements, saying Maharashtra would “definitely” implement the Uniform Civil Code. He added that a committee would be constituted soon and that its formation would be announced during the upcoming Monsoon Assembly Session.
