Mana Run Vizag South Edition draws thousands to RK Beach
Network18 fitness event features 1K, 2K, 3K, 5K and 10K runs in Visakhapatnam
MUMBAI: Visakhapatnam put its best foot forward on Sunday, with thousands of runners, families and fitness enthusiasts turning RK Beach into a sea of sneakers for Network18’s Mana Run – Vizag South Edition.
Held on September 6, the event began at 6:00 AM and was flagged off by Dr Shankhabrata Bagchi, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Visakhapatnam, who attended as the Chief Guest. The run brought together participants across age groups and fitness levels, with the focus firmly on making physical activity part of everyday life.
Aligned with the Government of India’s Fit India Movement, Mana Run carries the broader message of building healthier communities and promoting a Fit and Drug-Free India. The Vizag edition put that message into motion, quite literally, as participants took to the roads along the city’s iconic RK Beach.
There was a distance for almost every kind of runner. Children could take part in the 1K and 2K Fun Runs, while the Timed Runs offered 5K and 10K categories. Participants looking for a more relaxed format could opt for the Non-Timed Runs across 3K, 5K and 10K.
The mix allowed seasoned runners to chase the clock while first-time participants could simply find their pace, making the event as much about participation as performance.
The morning also brought together partners from the cooking oil, nutrition, energy, sports, hydration, healthcare, education and industry sectors. Freedom Healthy Cooking Oil came on board as the Presented by Partner, while Milky Mist was the Protein Partner.
Fast&Up supported the event as the Energy Partner, Decathlon as the Sports Partner and Campa Sure as the Hydration Partner. Mahatma Gandhi Cancer Hospital & Research Institute joined as the Health Care Partner, while ROSS University was the Education Partner. Reliance Industry supported the run as the Associate Partner.
With thousands taking part, the RK Beach stretch became more than a running route for the morning, it became a snapshot of Visakhapatnam’s growing fitness culture. The event ended on the same note on which it began: that fitness is not merely a finish-line goal, but a way of life, and collective participation can help push the country towards a healthier, fitter and drug-free India.
