Just For Laughs strikes MIPCOM deals with France Télévisions, M6 and MediaCorp
The comedy distributor expands its international footprint with scripted and non-verbal shows across four markets
CANNES: Just for laughs, and now for a wider audience. Canadian comedy group Just For Laughs Distribution has secured multiple licensing deals with broadcasters in France, Singapore and Switzerland at MIPCOM 2026, extending the international reach of its scripted and non-verbal comedy catalogue.
The agreements cover three titles: family dramedy About Antoine (À propos d’Antoine), LOL Just For Laughs Sketch Show and hidden-camera series Just For Laughs Gags. The deals include renewals, new season acquisitions and the first sale of LOL Just For Laughs Sketch Show to French broadcaster Groupe M6.
France Télévisions has renewed the first season of About Antoine and acquired its second and third seasons, the third season also being available as a movie, along with a documentary associated with the show. Switzerland’s RTS has picked up the second season following the success of the first.
Meanwhile, France’s Groupe M6 has acquired LOL Just For Laughs Sketch Show, marking the programme’s first sale to the broadcaster. Singapore’s MediaCorp has licensed the 26th season of Just For Laughs Gags.
Just For Laughs CEO Sylvain Parent-Bédard said the company was pleased to announce multiple international licensing agreements at MIPCOM, highlighting the appeal of its award-winning programmes to broadcasters across different markets. He also welcomed the first sale of LOL Just For Laughs Sketch Show to Groupe M6 and the latest agreement with France Télévisions for About Antoine.
The deals span distinct comedy formats, from physical humour and elaborate pranks to a more intimate family story. LOL Just For Laughs Sketch Show features non-verbal sketches built around absurd situations and eccentric characters, including incompetent nuclear engineers, reckless ambulance drivers and impatient chefs. Its first 12 seasons comprise 168 half-hour episodes, and the series has previously been sold in more than 150 countries.
Just For Laughs Gags, meanwhile, relies on hidden-camera situations rather than dialogue, turning city streets and unsuspecting passers-by into the setting for its comic set-ups. Produced by Just For Laughs, the series has 26 seasons and a catalogue of 370 half-hour episodes, with previous sales spanning more than 150 countries.
About Antoine offers a different register. The French-language dramedy, inspired by true events, follows a family navigating life with a child with multiple disabilities, exploring love, family relationships and the challenges of disability with sensitivity and humour. The three-season series comprises 24 half-hour episodes, with new English-language dubbed versions also available.
The show has built a strong awards record. It won the Diversify TV Award at MIPCOM 2023 in Cannes and the Best Foreign Fiction award at the Festival de la Fiction in La Rochelle the same year. It was also nominated in the Comedy Drama & Sitcom category at the 2023 Rose d’Or Awards. At the 2023 Gémeaux Awards, Micheline Bernard won for best supporting performance in a comedy or comedy-drama. The series subsequently received two Gémeaux nominations in 2025, including recognition for Fanny Mallette and its international production achievements. It was also selected for the International Series Competition at the 2023 Geneva International Film Festival.
Founded in Montréal, Just For Laughs has grown from a comedy festival established in 1983 into an international producer, distributor and broadcaster of comedy. Its festival network spans cities including Québec City, Toronto, Vancouver, Singapore, Sydney and Bermuda.
The group says its digital platforms and media channels entertain more than 100 million fans annually and have accumulated over 100 billion views. Its distribution arm offers broadcasters, streaming services and free ad-supported streaming television (FAST) platforms a catalogue that includes more than 600 episodes of non-verbal comedy sold in over 150 countries, alongside scripted series, feature films and stand-up performances.
With the latest agreements, Just For Laughs is giving its comedy library another international outing, betting that whether the humour is scripted, silent or caught on camera, laughter travels well.
